well I tried Comodo for a while and tbh don't like it! Granted it is more customisable than Zonealarm and is easy to set up port forward / activsync use etc but it also needlessly alerts and refuses to learn certain routines.
Also I thought Zonealarm was the only firewall that Steve Gibson fully sanctioned or am I wrong here?
BTW Zonealarm passes every test I throw at it along with my hardware firewall so I am more than happy with this until I learn otherwise.0 -
Don't know if Zone Alarm is fully sanctioned by Steve Gibson, but when I try it it fails all the tests on my machine.I suppose its just specific to ones setup somehow.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0

What have you got the Internet Zone security set to? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I used the 2nd link on Vista using Comodo 3.0 -

No I don't anymore tbh...
From his site...[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif,MS Sans Serif][SIZE=-1]This first versions 1.x of Leaktest simply demonstrate how any TRIVIAL malicious program can easily bypass any current software firewall! The only exception to this is ZoneLabs' free ZoneAlarm, because ZoneAlarm is the only firewall to cryptographically certify the identity of executable programs.
Therefore, version 1.x of LeakTest is only meant to quickly and convincingly demonstrate an alarming flaw that currently exists in the vast majority of personal computer software firewalls. Because this is a serious problem, EVERY firewall manufacturer (except ZoneLabs) is currently working to correct this glaring deficiency.
But it looks like this page hasn't been updated for a couple of years!

B****r, just typed a brilliant post and it disappeared into the ether.
Thanks for the replies.
I think I'm going to stick with what I know i.e. 2.4. It's seems to have given me an effective firewall for nearly a year.
I think I've only had one scare, that was when AVG Resident Shield nabbed a virus when I clicked on an innocuous link while Googling.
Previously had Kerio, which I found difficult what with being a newbie as well.
ollyk
I agree the page does look a bit ancient.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
espresso,
I had Zone Alarms firewall set to the highest settings. Thanks for replying.tweeter.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0 -
Hi spud17 - very interesting that you should mention this. I'm updating a web page with some basic advice for friends and family (so they don't keep asking what firewall, antivirus, etc. to install) and thought I'd run Steve Gibson's LeakTest through a few to see how they cope.
I have previously recommended Comodo to several friends, and many reviews state that Comodo "passes every known leaktest".
It failed when I tried, however. ZoneAlarm free, ZoneAlarm Pro, and AVG Firewall pass, while Norton Internet Security fails with default settings (although these can be changed).
I've been scouring the Internet to find others who have had problems with Comodo, but you're the first other person to notice this, so maybe it only affects the latest edition.
Very worrying, though...0 -
Cheers esuhl,
It seems to be the latest version, I don't know if you read my original post
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=606557
My suspicions were first aroused when the 2 shortcuts didn't work.
I have contacted Comodo Support, but not heard back.
Like you I recommend Comodo to others and have never had problems until now.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I did see your other post, but I only installed Comodo briefly on a spare PC to run LeakTest, so didn't really have a look at the various settings (I was hoping my non-techy friends could just install it without changing anything).
I might reinstall it for a closer look now, though (maybe tomorrow when I'm sober!). I really thought I was going mad! I assumed that a quick web search would find loads of people who had noticed this anomaly, but like I said, you're the first other person I've come across that has noticed this.0
