Tomorrow morning here (in Hampshire) it should be dry and windy, and forecast sunny on Wednesday, so in my starting blocks to get out there. Not sure what I'm going to do though: a bit of weeding and muck spreading I imagine, and some garlic to go in as well. I'll probably just stand and look at the new allotment for a bit and change my plans yet again. I've some Nantaise carrots on seed tape I might put in under fleece.Incidentally, as a language teacher one of the things I say to my students is get any exposure to the language you can, so read the back of the cereal packet in your holiday hotel, for example.. But I can particularly recommend Lidl seed packets, the one I have in front of me I bought on holiday in Italy "Nantaise 2. Middle-early season variety, suitable for freezing" on the front. On the back it has got growing instructions in German, French, Italian and Portuguese but no English; not a bad way of seeing the similarities between languages and increasing your vocabulary!0

I bought some onion sets sturron from B n Q and have set them out in greenhouse in compost under fleece to start them off. found some peas so ive started them off too, they may be past there best date but I'll see if they come up. my raspberry canes arrived yesterday, just in time for the snow
ive not finished preparing their permanent bed so heeled them to a large bucket to keep frost off their roots till ready to put them in their new home, lovely healthy looking canes I went with Joan J variety after reading good feedback0 -
Finally got my friend round to seriously prune some old apple trees with me. Took us about three and a half hours yesterday afternoon before I was just too cold but a combination of snipping, lopping, sawing and chain-sawing completed the first and about half-way through the second. My word there is a lot on the ground! I think we will get the rest cut today but who knows when we will clear the debris - I want some logs to pop in the cart-lodge to dry out and seasonSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Snow here again, so it's an indoors day probably. Managed to get a bit more workshop tidy yesterday. I'm getting closer to getting the xmas tree in the chipper. Cherry plum in the front garden is just starting to blossom, my Chinese mahogany in pots is budding & my chillis overwintering indoors seem to be coming back too

Four hours out there today - hurray!
Noticed the PSB was beginning to develop its head. Myself & Mrs Un took it in turns to play with roadtest the Einhell cordless shears finally - had to limit our time as there was other stuff to do & I was rapidly running out of juice. Got a bit of the front garden done, loosely trimmed the dead/excess winter savoury - it felt good to be out there

Glorious out there today, maybe a little cold, but feels like I'm going to get a lot done...

Hi folks
glad to see that some of you are managing to get stuff done - I’ve not managed anything since my last visit here. The weather has been so miserable that the plots resemble more of a paddy field than an allotment 😂
I was gifted a wild cherry tree in memory of my brother so I need to get some compost and get it potted up until I decide on it’s permanent home. I’m just not sure where that’s going to be yet.
My potatoes are still in the fridge! I will get them out and into trays today though. I haven’t planted or sown anything yet 😕I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
