  • I fell off the band wagon towards the end of this year but need to jump back on please? I have a budget of £70 a week so for January 5 weeks £350 but just for January I am only allowing myself to buy bread, butter, milk, meat and fruit & veg, the rest has to come from the cupboards, so I am hoping for a really low month, well I can wish :)
Weight loss 6lb/16lb 10lb to go
I spend an insane amount of time wondering if I am doing it right, sometimes I remind myself that I am doing my best....and that is enough

Happy New Decade! Would like to join this month please - budget will be £200 for four adults - not all meals needed as DS1+2 and DD work shifts and buy some takeaways but still seem to be ravenous all the time!
Not many bargains in my freezer but well stocked and do have surplus veggies from the xmas price wars. Will be working next 6 days so meals planned for most of week. Challenges are local co op late at night.....

    Happy New Year All!

Elsiepac, apologies, but I’ve got a change to make to my January budget, please. We finished December with £12.20 left over, so I’ll roll that forward into January. My new January budget is £132.20.

    Many thanks,

    Pip

I've also decided that I'm going to put £20 on my Tesc* C!ubc*rd each month for 10 months as I save my vouchers for Christmas, I use some for days out the following year and I'll use the extra for my shops in the run up to Christmas to reduce the spends in December. Going to set a reminder on my phone as I don't often shop instore and you can't do it online.

I didn't know you can put money on a clubcard, how does that work and if I put (say) £0 on, can I use that on one of the deals where you get £30-worth of goods for £10?
  • Morning I would like to join. With £400 for January.
I used to be on her 8yrs ago. I really need to get my money under control.
We are 2 adults and 2 children 2 cats and a rabbit. Sometimes I have 2 stepchildren here as well.
I am including everything in my budge ie cleaning products pet food and takeaways.
  • Thanks for the thread Elsiepac and HNY to all my fellow frugallers. I love the new year and the fresh enthusiasm and positivity. Can I please join? I'm aiming for £300 for Jan - there is DOH, DD2 and myself, Molly and Dolly the 2 chickens and with DD1 at university who, with boyfriend, pops back on occasion and eats us out of everything god love them. I've done a cupboard and freezer inventory and am trying to hold off doing ANY food shopping until 5th as we're all back to work/school on the 6th. The £300 will cover food, toiletries, milk delivery and school dinner money.

Currently have bread on the go as I bought a 16kg sack of bread flour before Christmas along with a gammon joint for lunch/tea. Planning on using up tired veg into a quiche and some soup to freeze for work next week. Also need to create the month meal plan at some point today but currently chilling so don't know if that will happen today or not. Have a great day everyone xxxv

    £300 Jan budget goal
  • hello all,

i keep losing track with this challenge but really need to keep on the straight and narrow between now and august. i have more teeth (6 crowns done, 9 left to go), a sofa and a seaside holiday to pay for until then.

mostly i cook for 2, tho sometimes my sister is here. i'm not going to count her as an extra person cos i figure i can just bulk out meals when she's here with lentils etc.

please can i set my target as £120 for january please, decided to run month to month as i find that easiest.
    thankyou :D
  • Good afternoon. Could I join this challenge please. I would like to start with £650 , which is what I've put in the budget to start this month. It is a huge amount but I'm sure we've been spending a lot more. We are feeding 4 adults, 1 teen and 2 almost teens. DH and DD1 both work nights and DD2 does 2 hours of gym 3 times a week so I find we are eating junk/fast food all the time.

I have just upset DH and DS1 aswell by telling them they can't carry on eating a meal that should serve 4 by themselves, they're going to exercise and weights have been logged. DS is currently rebelling with a tube full of pringles in his hand :rotfl:
