Apart from the CIFAS thing, just relax for a year, paying the credit cards and loan on time, perhaps by DD to reduce angst and risk of mistiming something.

Once those defaults reach 6 years they'll be disappearing.

Even then, I'd say don't go overboard with cards and other stuff, bide your time for the mortgage you're looking towards.

If, just occasionally, the £1250 card credit limit isn't quite enough, there's nothing wrong with making a bit of extra payment a few days early.

kl2, I think you need to make a formal complaint to Santander asking them to remove the marker (try using Resolver) and do it asap. This should get the ball rolling and means the ICO should have evidence that Santander officially failed to comply with your request (assuming they don't give a reason why they refuse).

Sadly sometimes you need to make formal complaints for big organisations to take you seriously.
May you find your sister soon Helli.

I have 3 defaults and got an account with starling. One wasn't even paid off but they were probably at least 3 years old at the time.

Your problem might be the number of defaults. A lot of companies will automatically decline someone with more than 3 or of a certain value.

I can't get an overdraft with starling or monzo. Monzo told me it was because I had defaults. I will try again when they drop off.

Out of curiosity, how old are the defaults?

It’s weird, it must just be the CIFAS issue or something underlying stopping me which I won’t ever find out about.

Even the default amount is ridiculously low for 8 defaults.

    Just raised one via resolver.

Hopefully I hear back and I will raise it if need be, it’s beyond a joke. I called today and told them to reopen the original complaint again as the person I spoke to the other day didn’t do it.

When I applied for the starling account one was just under 4 years and the other was 4 years old. I can't find the other one.

I’m wondering if mine is the amount, or the CIFAS.

I do think it is the CIFAS, my 12 months is up in February. I’ll have my CIFAS gone by then, hopefully so we will soon see.

It’s not too serious, just a little annoying because I can’t get approved when in reality I shouldn’t be struggling this much.

Spoken to CIFAS, they said the match they sent me was a partial match and it shouldn't affect me from getting credit as it's just noted that someone has tried to use my details and not that I've committed fraud.

    Is this correct?

Today has been a somewhat successful day, £250 increase on my credit card (limit now £1500) and managed to get 2 defaults removed :)

What a lovely way to end the year :)

Would you care to enlighten us, as to exactly how you got the two defaults removed from your credit file. The method you used may be helpful to others... :)
