8 x 5 year old defaults, where do I go from here?

They actually refused my complaint (Santander) and said they have no recollection of ever adding it and told me to go to CIFAS with the letter of resolution and ask them to remove it. I've just submitted another claim saying CIFAS won't let me remove it and it's their responsibility since they were the ones who added it and they need to get in touch with CIFAS. Does that sound like I've done the correct thing?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

They said they can not find any reason or recollection of there ever being a CIFAS added, and said that I can send the letter of resolution to CIFAS to get them to remove it. Or if they can send me a reference number (which I already did and they said they can’t find it) then they’ll look into it.
That was November 5th, I chased it yesterday and was told they sent me that letter but I must’ve overlooked it or not got it, but I reopened the claim yesterday and said it’s their duty to get it removed since they added it, I also sent them the reference number again and asked them to do it ASAP.0 -
Sorry, I meant if I send them my reference number from CIFAS.
Can’t edit on iPhone for some reason.0 -
not sure a reference number would do any good. Why dont u send them a copy of the letter from CIFAS. You are wasting time going back and forth with this. Also do it on email, its quicker0

That's what I've done this time, just scanned the letter I received from CIFAS and sent it to them.
I also know going to CIFAS myself will be a waste of time, I called them when they sent it back after doing the SAR and they said they can't give info that's why I went straight to Santander.
Also - I know scores mean nothing, but it shows my credit is somewhat okay if I didn't have the defaults all things considered. So do you think the CIFAS marker is the reason I keep getting declined by banks?
I.e my Starling application can be remade this February, so I will wait until the CIFAS marker has been removed and then do it after it's definitely been removed from the system and I should get accepted, hopefully.0 -

Going to call them on Friday just to let the complaint handler know I’d like them to send it ASAP so I can just not need to worry about it.
Hopefully they’re not difficult in this and just say yep we’ll send it off etc.
On a brighter note, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.0 -
I have 3 defaults and got an account with starling. One wasn't even paid off but they were probably at least 3 years old at the time.
Your problem might be the number of defaults. A lot of companies will automatically decline someone with more than 3 or of a certain value.
I can't get an overdraft with starling or monzo. Monzo told me it was because I had defaults. I will try again when they drop off.0 -

Well yes I've lived for so long without one there's probably no point!:rotfl:0
