Car accident no L plates

The whole reversing for cover was a lie, I didn't have any of the L plates on. I don't know why I said I did, I guess that's just what I planned to tell my insurers. Sorry to everyone that replied.
The rest is the truth, It was outside the place I work and the other person was a co-worker with a licence. She's kinda timid anyway and I didn't know how the other guy was going to react so I told her to stay in the car, plus it was !!!!ing down.
I have my own car, I'm the only person insured on it under a provisional insurance. The conditions are that I am with someone over the age of 21 with a full driving licence and I display L plates, so I assume they'll ask.
I know a lot of people with licences so I drive quite often. I admit I've got a bit lax with the L plates in the last couple months, I'd say up until the time of the accident I was displaying them 50% of the time. I have also driven unsupervised a few times but don't make a habit of it.
If they ask I think I'll just say the L plates were on and hope they don't question it. The other guy obviously wouldn't of mentioned anything in his statement but it was dark and I could just say he missed them. If they ask him I don't see why he would make a fuss as he's getting the payout.
There were cameras but they didn't catch any of the actual accident.
Thanks for the replies.0 -

2 wrongs don't make a right. tread careully op, lying to your insurers will risk you being on the fraud register, good luck getting any kind of insurance after that

tell the truth, anything else is fraud"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

If you get caught driving unsupervised your car will be seized and you will get a fine and points for no insurance0 -
Driving other than in accordance with your licence requirements also invalidates your insurance which could prove very expensive if you had a more serious crash. Just leave the L plates on all the time and make sure you have a suitably qualified driver with you who is sober and not on their phone.
Clearly the op is just doing as they please whenever they feel like it. If they crashed into my car I would make sure they had the book thrown at them.0 -

You need a reality check. Doing what you are doing isn't in the least clever. Essentially you admit to driving without insurance and that potentially could end very badly for you for the rest of your life.0 -
It does sound like the op was in a works carpark. In which case, they were on private land so L plates not required.0

The whole thing of course might be made up?0

Glider, she knows my situation but I wouldn't say she would consider it giving me a driving test. If anything she was just happy to get a lift home (our houses are less than 2 min walk away). I believe she's had a licence for 8 years. I haven't taken my test yet because I'm due to join the army late January and they pay for it. The biggest reason I'm considering giving false info to my insurer is if I get banned or convicted of anything then the army route is up in smoke.
Barney, I'm not looking for sympathy mate.
Yohan, they have to prove I'm being fraudulent first, which is almost impossible without video footage. It would be my word against his, that's if he even makes a fuss of my statement of events. Plus I doubt they'd bother to investigate throughly as the payout damages shouldn't be more than a couple of hundred.
Jumble, Angrycow, NCC, I understand the risks when Im on my own or with a driver not displaying L plates. Obviously I'm going to put a stop to this but I guess I realised what I was doing is stupid far too late.
James, I was in my work car park and you are correct in saying its private land. But you still must comply with insurance rules if the land is used/accessible to the public, which it is.0
