Yes ofcourse you can spend your earnings as you wish. But if you spend all your money and leave yourself short you can't blame it on someone else when you get into difficulties like this.

I've already explained to you that if they suspect it is a fraudulent transaction then they may send them out and it will be reversed and they will lose out.

Like I also said they haven't actually taken the funds they have just tried to process the transaction. They certainly will not have the money and it's your bank that's stopping you spending it because they expect the money to be taken based on the attempted transaction.

If such small amounts cause you difficulty then use a credit card in future for all spending and you won't have this issue again.

I am guessing that this has never happened to you then, and based on your attitude I’m guessing that you wouldn’t care because you have a “credit card” which isn’t actually your money then is it? Because you’re borrowing money? Why would you take out a credit card for “such small amounts of money” anyway, that doesn’t seem to be sensibly managing money to me?

I’m not in difficulties, it’s just Christmas, something has gone wrong, I can afford all of my credit agreements and can pay them off, I can afford to put food on the table, so if I want to treat myself and my family at Christmas, I will. I’m not blaming it on anyone here I’m blaming apples shoddy online store, which have reserved my money, before they can apparently even confirm my order properly, which quite frankly is a joke. I can just not afford, like a lot of people to buy a MacBook upfront, which is what my previous post was about. Nor can I afford to keep ordering items which are then cancelled. And also I can’t Quote it but I do not Want to take out a credit card as I will Be tempted to spend money on things I do not want. Unlike my catalogue which I am limited to the things I can buy. Thanks

Myself and other have tried to explain why the money if reserved but you don't want to listen then you will never understand.

So you have no emergency fund and you can't get a credit card because you can't control your spending, yet you think your financial situation is fine....

If you got your spending under control, got a credit card and took time to get an emergency fund then common situations like this wouldn't effect you. That's the solution.

Yes it has happened to me a few time, mainly at hotels when they forget to unreserve the funds. The payment never actually gets taken and it never appears on the statement I only notice if I check the available balance online so has no effect on me at all.

Actually it's a cashback credit card and I get money for just spending normally on it. I then pay it back in full each month so it pay no interest. Also if the item if over £100 paying by credit card offers section 75 protection which is really useful if you have problems with the item and the retailer doesnt offer a solution.

The sensible way to use a credit card is to pay in full each month so you pay no interest and get a cashback one if you can. You should never borrow on a credit card unless its interest free.

Thanks! I do know why it’s reserved, I’m not stupid and I know I will get it back, the problem I HAVE is that I am not sure when I’m getting the funds back, and it’s okay I’ve no problems, I do have a savings account, which I did not dip into by the way, so I can save. And I bought one from Argos. No issues. Actually I haven’t really tried for a credit card, I don’t want one, plus I know I would spend money I am borrowing, because that is the concept of a credit card, you are borrowing the money, you can’t afford to make the purchase without it, so you have to borrow it. So no I would rather not get a card and buy things I do not need with a loan. You can’t tell me I can’t control my spending because if I couldn’t I would take out lots of credit cards and then Max them out. That’s unable to control your spending. I don’t need one, I don’t want one. Stop suggesting it. I think everyone would buy what they didn’t need on a credit card, it’s like a supermarket, they are designed to sell you things you don’t really need. I can live fine without one, thanks. Also I do have an emergency fund if I have a savings account. My spending is under control, once again you don’t take me so take that feeling of entitlement to comment on my spending and financial situation somewhere else! I have said previously this is for Christmas, I don’t just have spending sprees for the fun of them.
  • Also, just for clarification, it is unlikely I would get a good rate credit card anyway. So it would make it too expensive to borrow and I do prefer my catalogue.

Hate to give the OP some bad news but that pending Authorisation can sit there for up to 14 days... That ball is in Apples court.

    To clear something up.
If the bank had declined the transaction it would not be showing on your bank account.

Thanks :) not sure Apple know themselves what’s going on, if they do they wont tell me.
  • Also, I know my card didn’t decline, because it wouldn’t be pending otherwise :)

Skimming through this..... The OP's financial situation is completely irrelevant. The issue at hand is should Apple be able to 'block' an amount of money from the OP's account for days after the order has been cancelled?

I have no financial problems. I'm considering the purchase of a Mac Pro with XDR display (no not with the stand) let's say it's £15k. Apple decide to cancel my order after seeing I'm slagging them off on there forums. By potentially holding the £15k for 2 days I might miss out on another deal. Is that right?

If that was me I'd be kicking up a right stink and making sure that Apple paid for any issues that they caused with the hold after cancelling the order.

Unfortunately people with financial problems tend to get walked all over.
