So sorry to hear your Mum has reached that stage, @Blackcats. I've been through it myself with both my parents & it is a difficult time.

Thank you SA, Maggie, Cranky and Foxgloves. It is a hard thing to go through. My mum has had a bad year and a few times I thought she wouldn't make it but this time we are approaching the end. She is very content in herself - I think she is at peace with her life. She was having a good day today in stark contrast to yesterday when she slept for hours and hours. I heard her telling the carer today that I was a good daughter ... she recited "a son is a son til he takes a wife, a daughter is a daughter for life". Made me happy/sad.I had some time to myself this afternoon so I topped up the NS and I savings pots by clearing down current account ahead of payday. Helps to keep busy.2

I lost my lovely mum to a brain tumour 21 years ago, she was 71. She wasn’t ready to go and it was heartbreaking and so hard to go through.

SA that must have been so sad for you and the family and your children were young to lose their grandma. And now you have to cope with MrSA's brain injury too which you do so well.Thank you for your kindness loveactually.
not much change with mum today - she is comfortable and well cared for.
I went for a fairly short walk on my way home which helps me calm my thoughts and relax a bit.
coming onto the forums is a little reward to look forward to in the evening.Trying to eat healthy foods but quick and easy too. I made a stir fry tonight - ready prepared vegetables, straight to wok noodles and a sachet of sauce. I think I'll buy a couple of microwave meals for a quick option. I'm trying to avoid the white wine and chocolate diet at the moment, although they can feature they probably shouldn't be the total ingredients of an evening meal.3 -
Good idea to stock up on easy to grab meals. When Mr SA was in hospital, for the first few weeks I lived on a diet of black coffee, Maltesers, red wine and very little else. I had no appetite, it was shock. Lost quite a bit of weight but obviously not recommended. Do whatever it takes to get yourself through this period of time.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I’m so sorry to hear about your mum @Blackcats I lost my mum in February this year, she was only 51 and me 31 respectively and I spent every moment in the hospital until the last night when she slipped away whilst I’d popped back at 5am to feed my 6 month old. It’s so hard to see, but stay strong for her right now.
