Countdown .... week 52
no spending day today.Council tax overpaid but slightly less than previous months as it's car insurance month and I want to pay insurance in full. Council tax paid is 60% of the total after 5 months and I'm pleased with that.2 -
Just caught up. Sorry to hear about your Mum. Hugs. You sound like you are doing an amazing job making time for her and still somehow cooking... impressive.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you SH. The cooking has been more of a distraction than a virtuous choice.Sadly my mum died yesterday. She was at home and. I was with her. I'm not sure how to find the right words but for the last 3 days of her life she was unresponsive and all we could do was watch and wait so I was relieved when she passed away peacefully.Lots of admin to do now but at least I can make myself useful and keep busy.
I was on leave from work last week and it was great not to have to think about work, try to balance priorities or be accountable for my time. I'm taking this week off too.
I remain committed to early retirement. 51 weeks to go.2 -
So sorry to hear about your Mum, @Blackcats. When we know a loved one is in their last few days, all we can do is hope that their passing is painless & peaceful. I'm glad you were able to be with her. Sadly neither my sis or I were with our Mum at the time of death. We had practically been living at the hospital in the preceding weeks while she was in palliative care, but I guess the truth is that poorly elderly folk die when they are ready.
Treat yourself kindly - there will be lots to do at an emotional time.
Sending love,

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!2 -
Oh Blackcats. I am so so sorry about your mum. Glad that you were able to be with her. Second what Foxgloves says about treating yourself kindly. I know we don't know each other, but please do let me know if there is anything at all I can do to help. You can always pm if you need a chat xx2

So sorry to read about your Mum's death. To be at home and with you by her side sounds like the best it could be. And echoing others, be kind to yourself.2
