I agree SH - the sound of the sea is wonderful - from the gentle lapping end of the scale right through to the crashing stormy waves.  I missed the sea very much during the main lockdown - it was too far to travel.
thanks loveactually - I feel like it's me versus the council tax and I think I'm just in the lead at the moment.

im feeling very hurumph with audib*e at the moment.  I've subscribed for many years - the books used to really help on my commute.  Anyway I rarely return books but I've given up on a couple in the last couple of months.  My latest title had a narrator who really annoyed me but I'm not allowed to return it even though I only made it through the first 20 minutes.  I suppose I've triggered an algorithm and will have to get through a specified time before I can return a title again.

I briefly contemplated the "generous" offer of buying 3 extra credits for £18 but decided to wait for 7 days til my next credit is due.  As a matter of principle I'm keeping that £18 for myself.  I've got a non fiction book that I'm slowly getting through - if nothing else it sends me to sleep at night 🥱.  I need to use my next credit very wisely.

Frustrating. I have a few credits in the club too. Want to use then pause membership. Pretty auto offered free book or half price for a few months if you do...

Re your council tax - well done. I was watching a budgeting vlog by MamaFurFur on Youtube and she treats her council tax as a sinking fund payment like her annual car insurance, tv licence etc and when it comes they pay it in one lump. Because they are self employed she says it is not then a worry per month if the monthly income cannot cover it at anytime. So interesting how people like you and her budget - we just pay the 10 months and always have done.

I realised last week that i was paying for audible and not using it :( so cancelled and they offered me 3 months for £0.99p! I accidently clicked the yes button (im sure they were switched around to see if this very thing happened!!). Anyway, i then did cancel but maybe doing that is a good alternative. You might also be able to return the book with the irritating narrator.

As book club club (which infrequently attend as i usually haven't found the time to read/listen to a book) was fast approaching last week i quickly listened to 2/3s of the book to join in. Whilst the narrator wasn't so annoying, it was an African American lady and by the time i finished listening i was saying 'mommy' to my daughter which irritated me!

Thanks SH and Miss Rikki C - its an interesting business tactic  to focus on stopping customers leaving rather than giving "rewards" to those customers that just tick away in the background.  Funny that you temporarily acquired an American accent.
Apparently it was my new credit day today but I don't know what to chose.  I'll have a browse tomorrow.  I've got a few in my wish list that I've got no idea why I thought I'd like them 🙄

thanks for popping by Angela.  I used to pay my council tax over 12 months and then read about people benefitting from the 2 council tax free months.  Obviously the same amount is paid but it feels like a bonus for 2 months.  Anyway I then worked out that if I overpaid by 10% over the 10 months that would save a month and then I just rounded it up to £400 per month (gulp).

Lots of rain here today so no washing done.  If it's as bad tomorrow I'll use the heated rack to get it dry.  No walk after work either but I did a get fit with Rick to get in some steps and he always lifts my mood.

Credit card statement has just been generated so I'll have a look across the budget categories and see how I've done.  I was hoping a £45 refund would get to the account for this statement but it's not there yet.  Oh well I'll be £45 up for this month - I'll just need to work out how to show that in my budget book.
  • Good on the £45 up blackcats - not so good on the weather.

Thanks Rebecca - though still no sign of the £45 appearing back on the account.
First spend of the accounting month tonight - visiting family at the weekend so bought some gifts to take with us.  Slight problem that they weren't in any budget line 🤨.  However, I will offset against the £45 - a bit cheeky but I'm making up my own rules!

Had a chilli from the freezer tonight and cooked up extra rice to use for a spicy chicken type dinner tomorrow.  I've got peppers, mushrooms and chorizo to add in, some spinach from the garden and a very small amount of home grown peas to pop in.  Bottle of wine in the fridge chilling too.  In case it's not obvious, I can't wait for the weekend!

Very happy because I started my 9 day fortnight this month and Monday will be my first non working day.  I'm going to treat it as a bank holiday and do something nice - weather permitting.

thanks loveactually.  If the weather is yucky on Monday I'm going to make a pot of tea and spend the afternoon watching a film.

Spent some money today.  OH went to the shop with a list and a clear explanation of everything on the list and came back with some bizarre variations to the list.  For example bunch of flowers as a thank you gift translated into 2 hanging baskets and a chilli plant 🤷‍♀️.  Chocolate for the grandkids turned into bubble blowing wand 😂. Chocolate for me equals a packet of pink shrimp sweets 😱

he did redeem himself with a few yellow stickered bargains.
