Fingers crossed that your car problems are sorted with just the battery1
-
Thanks foxgloves - I paid the garage for the battery today - they didn't charge any labour for fitting it and did it the same day, so no quibble with that. For someone who loved spending money, I found it a bit painful taking the money from my car savings pot 🤷♀️Yes Cranky my fingers are tightly crossed - I find myself breathing a sigh of relief when it starts.
hello love actually - nice to meet you. I just read your thread - a great incentive to save for your daughter. My diary has helped me so much - the helpful comments from clever people on here, holding myself accountable and celebrating little wins along the way. It's good to keep it going over the long term so you can remind yourself of your progress.1 -
I need to sit down and do my spending review but I'm enjoying reading diaries on here instead! my credit card statement is generated on 5th of each month so it's out of sync with payday. I pay it off in full each month and try to do most of my spending on it so I can keep track. I'll wait til tomorrow to do it but I know I've gone over my gifts budget although I made the recipients of the gifts happy which makes me happy. Question is will I be able to balance from underspends in other categories? I don't think I will 🥺
I'll log into my current account tomorrow and sweep the rounding down money to the marginal gains pot. I think all my direct debits will have gone out by tomorrow and then what's left over can be ear marked for savings at the end of the month. Go me!1 -
I've put off sorting out my credit card statement today too, @Blackcats. I need to get a handle on that tomorrow.

I feel vindicated that foxgloves has postponed her credit card reconciliation - only problem is I still haven't done mine 🤣.
Things are a bit busy for me with poorly old folks - there's a lot to do to keep them safely at home. I don't mind doing it at all but trying to join up the various agencies involved and even speaking to the same person more than once is a real challenge.
I visited a local beauty spot today for the first time. It was lovely - peaceful and beautiful. I took a very old style picnic - sandwiches, a slice of cake and an apple plus a flask of tea. Nothing fancy but we really enjoyed it.I've got a dentist appointment this week which will cost £116 and I need a small top up shop other than that no spending planned. I've teetered on the brink of buying new cushions, merrily browsing websites and "adding to cart". In reality I've got lots of cushions and I'm going to swop them around to freshen up for summer. It's so easy to wander off the straight and narrow and I really do want freedom from work more than I want a new set of cushions!2 -

You could always just get cushion covers for a change of look.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Nice to see you SH. SA - I did get some cushion covers a few years ago that I'd completely forgotten about and I've got no idea where they are now 🤷♀️. I've got some bags of miscellaneous "stuff" that I might look through - might find all sorts of forgotten treasures.I'm going to make elderflower cordial this week. I've got so many in the garden. I made it for the first time last year and it was lovely and refreshing.2
