I can remember my mum having a jar of maraschino cherries for snowballs, similar to glace cherries but in some sort of syrup. She had plastic sword cocktail sticks to skewer them on. I used to love sneaking a couple out too, wouldn't like them now, far too sweet.

Snowballs reminds me of 1970s New Year's Eve parties.  Obligatory vol au vents, cheese and pineapple on sticks stuck into a foil covered grapefruit, and mini hot dogs.  Great times.

I plucked up courage to request a flexible working arrangement and I'm really pleased that from 1st July I'll be working a 9 day fortnight 😃.  My boss tried to push me towards going part time but I held firm and requested under the flexible working policy as a carer.
I've reviewed the 5th April to 4th May budget and it just about balances but only because the underspends on various categories balanced out the unplanned £75 garden centre spend. Overall £4.50 overspend.   Garden centres are so tempting so I've put in a category of spends for the next couple of months.  I'm going to sort through all my plant pots and I've grown a few plants from seed so I'll occupy myself like that rather than being tempted by the "ready made" plants at the garden centre.
Tomorrow I will buy £25 premium bond and move £50 each into 2 pots and £100 into another pot.  Then nothing further money wise until 18th when I will have a further £200 available which I hope I won't need so it can go into the holiday savings pot.

Party 7s 🤣 I can remember lads bringing them to parties back in the 70s. When I think back they were only about 14 or 15 😱 Don’t even mention Cinzano 🤮 I totally ruined my 18th birthday party by starving myself for weeks beforehand to fit into skin tight trousers a la Olivia Newton John in Grease, a couple of Cinzanos and I was off my head and passed out. My mum was not amused to say the least.

Great news about the flexible working 👏

Sun addict - you made me laugh out loud!  Those Olivia Newton John trousers have a lot to answer for.  Grease was on tv a few weeks ago and I'd underestimated how eye wateringly tight they were.  I was horrifically sick as a teenager after a couple of Pernod and blacks - there was a very vibrant purple stain on the pavement for a good few weeks afterwards.

I'm not sure Pernod and black is a great combination in any circumstances.
Weather was horrid earlier but looks a bit brighter now.  Enjoyed a nice day at home pottering about.  Did some tidying in my office - on the surface it looks tidy but there are lots of papers in storage boxes and a few folders with out of date bills and papers in.
I've tackled 1 storage box and shredded the unwanted papers.  Amazing how a little bit of sorting feels so good.
I finished listening to my audiobook - One Moment by Linda Green - one of the best books I've listened to for a long time.  Beautifully narrated too.
Home made pizza for tea and then I need to find something to watch on tv which might be easier said than done.

Lol @Blackcats & @Sun_Addict, I tried a pair of those trousers on, aged 14, in a local boutique. I broke the zip because they would only ever have fitted a twig. I remember sneaking them back on the rack without the assistants seeing & never going in the shop again in case I had to pay for them.
Re cinzano..... I ended up in casualty when a bottle of the stuff fell on me at a 6th form party!

🤣 those black Sandy style trousers.  I never even tried to get a pair on - not because I was really sensible but I knew that there was no way my parents would let me go out of the house in them.  I bought a short ra ra skirt when they were fashionable - my dad warned me not to go upstairs on the bus when wearing it!
Cinzano 😳 clearly needs a health and safety warning !
