Great that you got your flexible working! I was terribly sick on Taboo once - yuk - why on earth did we all drink that !!!!!!?!
I probably used to be thin enough for a pair of ONJ trousers but now I'd struggle to fit in a bin bag!!!1 -
Got very tiddly on Babychams years ago! Still love a Pernod with lemonade on the odd occasion (once or twice ayear) as does not make my joints ache like wine does.

I drink Pernod with water - it's similar to the pastis that the French drink with water. It works for me as don't have to worry about having mixers if I fancy one!
The only thing I've ever been sick on was mixing wine - it was a evening with friends probably 40 years ago now we started with white wine when that ran out, some rose wine and then red wine! No wonder I was sick! Never mix them now - it's either red, white or rose but no mixing!

Rebecca - you made me laugh about the trousers but don't be hard on yourself - you are a fairly new mum with 2 little children so just getting up and dressed is a great achievement.
I've never tried Wkd but had a queasy time after watermelon Bacardi breezes.
Ooh yes, Angela, Babycham - very nice indeed and it always seemed very sophisticated. Those babycham glasses are iconic.JoeDenise - I can see how all three shades of wine on the same evening could make you a bit squiffy.Weather was much nicer today - on our walk this morning we sat on a bench carved with suns, and engraved "you are my sunshine" and the bench is clearly positioned to maximise the views and the sun - really warm. My grandad always sang that song to my Nan so it was nice to take a moment to think of them. And the bluebells in the nearby woods were stunning. So vibrant and so many of them making a carpet of blue. It was nice to see so many children out exploring with their parents - one of the few benefits of lockdown has been people enjoying the beautiful outdoor spaces we have.I'm putting some things into my Amaz*n basket - nothing very exciting - there's hardly a working pen to be found in this house and I need a few other mundane bits and bobs. Other than that I'll need to get some food shopping this week but again it should be a relatively small spend (famous last words).4 -
I've been really busy at work and most of the working day is spent staring at a screen so I've not had much energy left for screen time in the evening.
Usual monthly payments have been made into my main savings pots and now I'm focussing on holiday savings. How exciting to have a holiday to save for though 😎. It's actually a few days in an air bnb in this country but I'm really looking forward to it. The travel cost is paid for and this month I've saved the accommodation costs. There will be minimal "spending" money needed but I'll aim for £50 a day and save that between now and the end of June.A regular saver has just matured so I'll need to move that money from my current account where it has been deposited. I'm going to open another regular saver for £300 per month - the interest isn't great but it ensures that the money is saved each month and I'll have £3600 plus interest in 12 months which will be a great boost for the retirement plans.6 -
I had a day off today so I'm feeling a bit more energised ready for the weekend proper to start. Curtains are pulled tight, fairy lights twinkling in the fireplace and a lovely chunky candle is twinkling. Nice and cosy but only problem is it's the end of May and it should be a Friday night on the patio with a chilled glass of wine - soon I hope.
I felt pleased/proud today -new gas/electricity account is a bit in credit after month one, mobile phone bill is halved and water bill is down £12 a month - the result of more thoughtful usage and shopping around and changing tariffs. Can't help wishing I'd done it years ago but hey ho - better late than never.Going to do some crochet now and find something to watch on tv - and just remembered there are Ferrero richer in the snack drawer 🥰3 -
I carved out an hour of time this morning to sit at the kitchen table with a cuppa to sort out a few financial bits and bobs. I'd got a bit overwhelmed because there were 3 or 4 things needing attention and I did more thinking about what needed doing rather than just starting the task. Anyway today I made good progress - I moved a maturing savings account from the building society's kind offer of 0.12% to an account paying a bit more with the same building society. More out of pique than the chance to earn significantly more interest but every little helps. I opened my new regular saver and tidied up my current account ahead of payday on Tuesday. I've got enough to pay £400 off the eye watering council tax bill again this month. I will slay this pesky bill as soon as I can 🙄

I've just watched the waste less/save more programme with prue leith on catch up. It's a similar format to other shows and again it's shocking the amount of money spent and food wasted. The family of 4 spend around £172 per week and throw away 25% of their shopping. Although I'm shocked now I did have a terrible shopping habit, no meal plan, buying lots of fruit and veg and then throwing away a lot of fruit and veg, buying out of season fruit and veg, buying fancy branded washing powders, fabric conditioners, shampoo, conditioners, convenience foods, cooking different meals for each person .... you name it I did it,
I'm still learning but I'm enjoying doing things differently and reducing waste and reducing costs .... apart from succumbing to chip shop chips tonight 😋5 -
I watched that programme and enjoyed it. I very rarely waste food these days but still have lots to learn regarding reducing my food bill.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
