My cat is fussy about her food too. Yet she pinches the dog’s food and I’ve even caught her eating coleslaw 🙄I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Coleslaw!!!!! I imagine as strays they had to eat raw mouse or raw pigeon and didn't have easy access to cod and prawns in a delicate gravy -although I do know that many strays pop into houses through the cat flap and steal food. I think my eldest cat must have done that as he is very alert when eating and always looking around him.
It's been beautifully sunny but cold today. A nice walk after walk with my trusty flask of tea. The local pub beer garden was heaving with people - I've got no real desire to go to the pub yet but I am having a nice Friday night glass of wine with my salmon and prawn stir fry and then I'm watching an episode of Death in Paradise! How about that for an exciting evening?

Our cat is just as bad. She's a posh cat with the digestive system of a sewer rat. She will eat doner kebab, bacon, corned beef.....but when it comes to cat food her ladyship will starve rather than eat something she doesn't like. The local hedgehog rescue has done very well out of her dislike of a lot of catfood in the last 6 months. Even when she does eat something it's like she's just tolerating it, sigh!2

Cranky - I can imagine your posh cat's disdain at the cat food. Mine would rather not eat than eat a variety of cat food that they judge to be inferior.
I've got a few days away booked for beginning of July and I booked and paid for the travel today (it's only in UK but quite pricey travel). I'm having a low spend month so far and I'm hoping that I can cover the travel costs within the underspends of the budget, it's a relatively low cost holiday in an air b n b so we'll be able to be self sufficient with meals if we don't want to eat out. I'm so excited and it's lovely to have something to look forward to. Fingers crossed that we can continue to unlock the country safely.4 -
I’m really hoping there won’t be any more lockdowns. I just want to get back to normal now. It will do you the world of good to get away for a few days.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Air bnb scare me - how do you know that you're booking somewhere real? We usually only go to London and Travelodge is my friend there - the local council baths which is an open air lido is over the road from the one that we use. Lovely to have a swim after a hot day.1

Thank you SA and SH - it will be nice to get away for a few days. It's not a fortnight in the Maldives but I'm almost as excited as if it were 🤣 I hope that you will be able to get sometime away too.
cranky - I was nervous too but family and friends had done air b n b for a while. When you register on the site it is very thorough, checking your ID etc so I think that it will be similarly thorough for those offering accommodation. There are reviews to check too. Of course there are no guarantees and I definitely wouldn't want to arrive late at night on my own in case the accommodation didn't exist. It might be worth registering with air b n b to see what's on offer if you decide to go somewhere other than London. My relative goes on the site and puts in criteria like dogs allowed and property has a hot tub but doesn't specify a location so they have had some really good places to visit that they might not otherwise have thought about. When I travel for work I always like the big chain hotels - they are clean, warm and safe and there are no surprises.3 -
A work colleague uses Air bnb a lot in normal times and has been fine so far. I like Travelodge Covent Garden in London, stayed there for work a few times. We had our fingers burned with Owners Direct a few years ago, booked a villa in Turkey, looked fabulous on the website, worst place we’ve ever stayed in and the only holiday where I couldn’t wait to return home.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
