I'm another who has recently started using bar soaps. I actually prefer it but DH always wanted liquid so I used to buy it to keep him happy. Still using the liquid up at the kitchen sink and using bar soap in the bathroom so the liquid will get used up and not wasted. We also probably have a years supply of bar soap!
I had to look up the Orla Kelly storage range and yes they are pretty! Enjoy your new tea bag container.

Hi JoeDenise, I've also got a liquid soap to use up which is downstairs whilst the bar of soap is upstairs. I know I'm lured in by fancy sounding smells so the liquid soap being used up is, apparently, the scent of a tranquil zen garden 😀
My plan is to give in my notice at work in 12 months ahead of an early retirement. Who knows what the next year will bring but I'm re-focusing on that ambition and will set out some goals here once I've thought them through.I spoke to a family member in Spain earlier. Armed police blocking the road into and out of town and checking why you are travelling certainly enforces lockdown. Apparently Devon police turned 500 caravans away yesterday .....4 -
I saw an article where someone had travelled from London to Devon to go fishing. Idiots.Good work on the planned retirement.3

Why can't people just observe the restrictions? I know it's horrible being stuck at home but I really think it's the best thing to do. We've definitely been sticking to the rules. Only been shopping once to the supermarket and once to the farm shop since this lockdown started and not even going out for a walk every day, just 2-3 times a week.
Heard on our local new that a family had travelled from London to Joss Bay, near Broadstairs to have a picnic! What is wrong with these people?

I think some people lack imagination - until or unless people they know die they are unlikely to take it seriously until it is too late. We have been very careful even before lockdown.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

hello purple fairy - yes indeed some people just don't comprehend that the rules apply to them. JoeDenise, a picnic by the sea probably seemed like a great idea to that family ....most of us are being sensible and as a result we are saving lives. It's as bloomin obvious as that. After queuing outside a shop, someone bashed into me with their basket. They apologised profusely but I said, very politely, if you are close enough to hit me with your basket then you are too close - they just looked blankly at me 😱
in money saving news I used up eggs in an omelette (imaginative eh?) and made a cake. This time last year those eggs would have ended up in the bin,7 -
Well done on using up those eggs, Blackcats. Mr F has been expressing his reservations about some out of date coriander in the fridge. I transferred it to a new bag yesterday & it looked & smelled fine. Unless that has changed overnight, it is destined for use tonight. He's much more wary about dates on food than I am.

Our current coriander is BBE 22nd March. I surprised it’s kept until now but it has. It’ll be made into pesto today just to ensure survival as it can’t last much longer. But it looks and smells fine.3

I use eggs months and months out of date - as long as they don't float.
DS shopped at Mr As yesterday and people were rubbish at social distancing. A worry.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I love coriander, it's my favourite herb. I find that the small packets of herbs from the supermarket get wilted and slimy quite quickly. I'm slightly nervous of eggs after the great Egwina Currie egg scandal but I agree use by dates are very conservative. No pun intended as Edwina is also very conservative. No money spent today - i know, I know! Not a massively big achievement as there's not much to be spending money on but anyway I'm counting it as a success. There are some pending transactions in my bank account so I can do a budget review tomorrow and move money to my savings pots.
I'm planning for a takeaway curry on Friday and I'm already looking forward to it. Eating from existing supplies until then so a very thrifty week until Friday.6
