I confess! I drink weak tea. Mr LH was apalled the other day when I told him I get 3 cups out of the tea bag I use at night. The night time one, first thing in the morning and mid morning. After these its one tea bag per cup but still weak. He called me a tea Phillistine. :

What a fabulous frugal tea drinking sub-committee we will be for @PennysIntoPounds Tuppence Club. 1 teabag between 3 is a great achievement. My brother says my tea is fortnight tea - 2 weak 😀
had a long and stressful afternoon/evening with my dad yesterday. He had a problem with his catheter and we couldn't get in touch with the district nurses. The 111 clinician called an ambulance at 4pm. Dad was in so much discomfort and was very distressed. We had a number of updates saying the ambulance was delayed. At 8 I remembered the district nurses moved to twilight/night shift with a different phone number so I tried again and left a message. At 10pm they phoned and came round at 10.30. All sorted by 11 when the paramedics arrived even though we stood them down when the nurses arrived, Anyway they checked dad over and all was well. He is remarkably resilient for a 96 year old. He had a cup of tea and some toast and jam before I came home. The nurses and paramedics were very kind and gentle with dad. I really feel sorry for the frontline staff who are trying their best to do a good job in such a stretched system.
relishing being at home this evening with a cuppa and some knitting.4 -
Oh your poor Dad. As you say, such a shame things are this way with the health system, it doesn't need to be like this. Glad he's bounced back, and that you're happily ensconced back home1

Oh bless him, glad he’s ok now. Wow 96 is a great age especially for a bloke.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Thanks for the best wishes for my dad. He is doing ok but because he doesn't have much else to think about he keeps on going back over it and worrying about it happening again. Luckily he has football and snooker to watch this weekend, Yes @Sun_Addict - it's a very good age and he still lives at home. I didn't think he would keep going after my mum died but he is very resilient.
@Sarahwithlove - strong but milky tea is very hard to make. I often get served weak and milky which isn't quite right. Funny how the core components of tea, water and milk can have so many personalised variations.
September has been ultra spendy and without savings pots I would be racking up (or is it wracking up?) a credit card bill that wouldn't easily get paid off.The new dishwasher has almost emptied the replacement tech/appliances pot. I'd been re-building it steadily after replacing MrBC's broken phone a few months ago.
personal spends took a big hit when we visited an outlet centre on our way home from IoW. We both bought new winter coats which will be ideal for our walking adventures and both were planned purchases.
holiday pot paid for our recent holiday plus spends.
however, I've overspent on the concerts pot which is now in deficit. We bought tickets for David Gray next year at a lovely seaside venue (as seen on Grace on a Sunday night). I didn't think he would tour again or that it would be huge venues so I am very, very excited. The tickets were bought on our points credit card and will appear on the October statement so I have time to squirrel away the costs of the tickets. Then I'll need to focus on re-building the other pots. Luckily the Christmas pot is healthy.
small money saving win - our holiday and broken dishwasher mean that I've been able to defer our dishwasher tablet subscription to October which really helps the September grocery budget. Small win but they all add up.4
