Well done you on converting the grandkids to being library users. What a thrill it is when you're young (and older) to be able to choose from an entire library and with your own library pass. Proper recherchè innit

Thank you @PennysIntoPounds and @lucielle. The library was indeed a simple pleasure but immensely gratifying. I used to take their mum to the library all the time when she was young so I'm surprised she hadn't signed them up long before now. Took the 2 year old this afternoon .....good job libraries aren't silent places anymore. She rampaged around the children's section, 'reading" her own version of stories and searching for books about rabbits. When we found books about rabbits she wanted books about cats but eventually settled on the story of Mother Theresa (no idea why). I am biased but DGD is very cute.
knitting is back on track and not in the dustbin where I felt like putting it.Bagged a 40% off bargain on prime day. It's an item that I've had in my "saved for later" basket for a while and it's by far the best price I've seen even directly from the retailer.Made plum crumble tonight for our bake off treat. It wouldn't win me star baker but it's very yummy and a very autumnal pudding.4 -
The library was my favourite place as a child. My kids also enjoyed it. Not quite sure this passion has been passed onto the GKs though, they seem to do everything online.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Glad you got some bargains.
Good you are introducing the kids to the library.
Thanks for the pension encouragement. I'm hoping that I'll soon get used to the lower pay and then end up not 'missing' it. I can only hope.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Have been full of cold for the last 3 days but feeling much better today. I gave my friend a lift a few days ago and whilst confined together in the car, they contrived to sneeze all over me twice and have a big cough and splutter too. I know we wouldn't want to re-create much from the dreaded covid days but at least most people showed a degree of hygiene when they were full of germs. My friend is aware that I care for my elderly dad and try very hard not to take any lurgies round to his house.
anyway a trip to the seaside and walk along the beach has cleared away the last of the fug. I've been drinking lots of honey, lemon and ginger drinks rather than buying commercial cold and flu remedies.

My dream job growing up was to work in a mobile library. When I was little we used to have a van visit our street once a fortnight. Loved it. Even now when I see one I wish I had took that career up.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.001

Thanks @lucielle. Today has been the day when I felt back to normal (whatever that might be). Feeling much more energised and much less snuffly. It's taken a week though. Booked our flu jabs for the week after next - decided it's best to get them done particularly as I felt so rubbish with just a cold.
@amber03 - me too! I loved the bricks and mortar library but also really looked forward to the mobile library. Climbing up the steps into the van and feeling amazed that so many books could fit in. I turned all of my own books into a library with a handwritten slip and then allowed my toys to borrow the books. I made my toys their own library cards back when the system involved a small cardboard pouch with 3 slips of card in and you handed over one of your cards for each book you borrowed. Some money tidying today as I got proactive with our subscriptions and moved the delivery date to when the items are needed rather than when they are due. We have the cat's dried food on subscription but deliveries are too frequent since we sadly went from 2 cats to 1. We also get dishwasher tablets and washing capsules from s-mol and after counting what we've got in stock I've moved next delivery to November. I also have a shampoo and conditioner subscription and that has been shunted forward to the end of November. It's so easy to get caught up with subscriptions and really easy to let them drift rather than manage them. Precisely why companies encourage us to sign up for them I suppose.
nice day out with some of the grandkids today. We enjoyed brunch out at an event - our food choices were perfectly split between bacon rolls for the males and Nutella and banana crepes for the females. Our fun money pot paid and we certainly satisfied the criteria as it was indeed a fun few hours.5 -
Dragged myself reluctantly for a swim today, I reckon that if either of us had shown any sign of avoiding the swim, the other would have endorsed that choice with gusto. I know cats are unpredictable but I correctly guessed that Jim the cat would be in the leisure centre today - a cold, damp day with probably no heating on at home equals time for Jim to wander across the road for his morning snooze.
I felt like giving up after 15 lengths but I continued for 5 more lengths chanting to myself "this officer candidate will not quit" and thinking about Richard Gere in his white naval uniform. 🥰
Had a good use it up dinner tonight of risotto using a chunk of leek, a couple of spring onions, a bit of bacon, handful of prawns and peas. Very nice it was too. The squashy bananas have been transformed into a very tasty banana cake which I cooked in the air fryer.
