Have had a bit of a spurt of enthusiasm for clearing out/de-cluttering again.
sold a few Knick knacks that I bought back in the day when I spent Sunday afternoons mooching round antique fairs spending money I didn't have. I think @foxgloves used to do the same. I haven't displayed these items for years and was unlikely to do so anytime soon. I actually feel pleased that someone else can enjoy them now. Luckily I've erased from my mind how much they cost as I certainly haven't made my fortune by selling them on.
sold an item on vinted. Well it was an item I'd bought on vinted that didn't fit very well so instead of shoving it in the back of the wardrobe I re-listed it. Again no profit but at least I made myself deal with it,4 -

thank you @lucielle.It's been a gloriously sunny day today so we've made the most of it by having a late lunch/early dinner in the garden. My prime day "bargain" was a pizza oven from the teenage mutant turtles company so we made some dough, chopped some fillings and attempted artisan pizzas. As a first attempt it was pretty successful and we enjoyed pizza, a glass of wine and some music in the garden. Still feels so amazing not to have to go to work.
knitting is finished - hallelujah. I put the garment on and did my finest Generation Game version of "give us a twirl". Mr BC asked what he was meant to be looking at and when I said I knitted this jumper he asked when I'd done that? Only every evening for the last few months 🤦♀️3 -

One of my friends retired early around 7 years ago and she says it still gives her a thrill when she wakes up in the morning and realises she doesn’t have to go to work. The pizza oven sounds good.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

@lucielle - will take some pics this week. MrBC is just doing some final bits of painting - well let's just hope that it really is some final bits.
We've been to a fab concert this weekend. I'm always in awe of how talented the musicians are. They make things look effortless. We enjoyed ourselves from the first song to the last moment of the encore. The audience were up and dancing to the singer's early hit "how long has this been going on?" -we all think we can sing too 😉
our favourite summer concert venue has started building up to next year's events. Last year they started charging for car parking in a field and this year they are going to charge corkage for byo picnic drinks. The tickets are not cheap, not Oasis ticket prices but well over £130 each and we are debating whether their costs are significantly increasing or whether they are getting a bit greedy. Will wait and see which artists they have signed up.
endeavoured to make the most of the 🐙 free energy hour by using the washing machine, dishwasher, heated airer, made a cake and made a big pan of tomatoey, veggie packed pasta sauce. Used up all the fridge bottom veggies and I'm hoping that I created a dish of splodge (copyright @PennysIntoPounds' mum).

Yeah thanks for the earworm 🙄 Glad you had a good time
I will pass on your copyright respect to my mum 😁
That does sound a bit money grabbing from the summer concert venue doesn't it. Fair enough their costs might have gone up but you'd think they'd pleasantly explain that. How would they even police byob in a picnic situation? No wonder they need to increase prices if they're employing an army of security to walk up and down the lines of picnic blankets making sure every person has a receipt for their drink.
When I was young, me and my friends and family would love going up on Hampstead Heath and laying down on the grass and having some drinks and bread and cheese and enjoying the good vibes of classical and other music wafting in from Kenwood's concerts. Then they started sealing off the large section of the (public park) heath so that people who couldn't afford tickets couldn't steal sounds with their ears.
Even when I'm very wealthy, they can still get right in the bin2 -
PIP - that is very mean spirited of Kenwood. Taking away the opportunity to enjoy music from a spot on public land albeit from a distance seems to fly in the face of the joy that music gives.during lockdown the famous annual horse race that's run near to us was being run without any spectators - oh apart from 800 so called VIP celebs who travelled in by helicopter. About 10 days before the race miles of fencing was put up around the perimeter of the track which is public open space and on the day hundreds of security staff were deployed to endeavour to stop people catching a glimpse of the race through the wire fencing. At the time we accepted that it was entirely inappropriate to have big crowds assembled to watch a sporting event although apparently 800 celebrities or gatherings at certain SW1 addresses were not within those rules. I'm not a fan of horse racing but i was surprised at the impact that fencing in our open space when we were confined to home had on me.For someone who doesn't enjoy finishing off craft projects it was bad timing on my part that I finished my knitting and my granny squares for DGD's blanket at more or less the same time. Anyway the jumper is finished so it's on to the sewing up and finishing off of the blanket. I'm grateful to myself that I sewed up all the ends of each of the 70 squares as I went along. I also sewed up the squares in their horizontal rows to help with colour design so now I'm on the vertical sew up and did my first row today.
DGD has a December birthday and I'm going to make her a cosy birthday parcel. It will include her blanket (giving myself a self-imposed time-limit for finishing it), warm pyjamas, slippers, a couple of books and a selection of hot chocolates).
I've given myself permission to start my new knitting project with will be a ribbed jumper for youngest grand-son.
time to make a cuppa, get a slice of cake, cast on my knitting and watch Bake Off. Bliss!2 -
Also not a fan of horse racing but if I was that racecourse could also get in the bin.
The sheer meanness of deliberately rubbing people's faces in 'one rule for the rich, one rule for the rest of us' is not just disgusting but tacky. If I was rich I would be too mortified and ashamed to attend these things with my money going towards preventing the common folk from using their eyes and ears with no skin off my nose, but I suppose you don't get proper rich by having a sense of decency do you.
The cosy birthday parcel sounds adorable and I am most envious of your DGD. Do you have an idea of which books yet?
