Another non fan of horse racing. In fact the nearest race course to us was partly responsible for the massive spread of covid after the huge annual racing festival was allowed to go ahead just before the first lockdown. We lose a good prt of our sea front every year for the annual beacch race with hundreds of motor bikes and their crews descend on the town. As we used to live 2 raods back from the front it was horrible as people literally parked parked everywhere and trying to get anywhere was a no no. Personally I dont think the closure of public land should be allowed.2

We are lucky to see the race horses being exercised and marvel at what finely honed creatures they are. I try not to think about those that don't make it to the highest level or those that get injured. It's a flat racing course here. I personally think jump racing is barbaric. Even outside of lock down lots of fencing is put up around the course for a few days before the race but it is still possible to walk for miles avoiding the fencing. The sunshine has been glorious yesterday and today which has meant all the washing is done and dried including bed linen and towels.a few surveys done though they aren't big payers I am edging towards £30 this month which is a great contribution to Christmas savings.
just as well as we have booked a dinner/live music dance and overnight stay as our Christmas treat for each other. It's a 1980's jazz funk group so should be fun.5 -
The Christmas treat sounds really good 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Thanks @Sun_Addict - I'm looking forward to the Christmas treat.
we are on our travels for a few days. Started yesterday with a family party for one of our youngest grandchildren. We stayed overnight as the location took us about 40 miles towards our next stop off point. Fun having bright and early breakfasts with the little ones this morning. Little children head off to bed absolutely shattered and wake up the next morning, full of energy just like they've been completely re-charged overnight.
we've arrived at our next location and have found a 30% off mains voucher for the pub chain where we will be eating tonight. We brought the contents of the fruit bowl from home with us for some healthy food and we also brought tea and coffee bags with us for our hotel room. The expensive activity that we have travelled here for was paid for a couple of months ago, we have paid for our accommodation, filled the car up with petrol from the cheapest place we saw on the journey (any cheaper petrol spotted after we filled up has been dis-regarded!). Don't think we will be spending lots this week. Would like to have some surplus money to stay in the holiday pot but want to enjoy ourselves without scrimping.2 -

Have a fabulous time! Hope the weather stays acceptable enough for you.
You've already saved on tea, coffee, fruit, and petrol, plus you can top up with cheaper petrol again on the way back down, plus you're saving on not using gas and leccy at home while you're away, so I definitely think you can have a guilt-free couple of treats1 -

Thank you @lucielle, @Sun_Addict, @Sarahwithlove and @Makingabobor2.@PennysIntoPounds - since you put it like that this is almost a cost neutral holiday 🙃
we are safely ensconced into our cosy air bnb cottage. It's very quaint - wood burner, beams, cosy blankets etc.
neither of us have been to this county before - first impression is that it's very flat, there are lots of fields growing crops and everyone is very friendly.
back home the cat is on a tasting panel for some new cat food flavours. Apparently he is enjoying this task and his fab cat sitter is providing feedback on his behalf.3
