I bought some ARWR 3 days ago and some AMRS yesterday. That's good timing for you!!!!!I've lost count the times that has happened to me. Sometimes a bit of patience goes a long way, others you are better off getting in ASAP. You never know which! Either way is not a bad thing if you hold long enough. Congratulations on your purchase!Don't forget to check the ARWR message board, once in a while at least:I could never cover it all, and it's one of the better boards (once a handful have been muted). Always interesting developments being posted!

I'm only putting in relatively small amounts and not more than I could afford to lose but had already bought some ARWR at 78.03 before paying 87.80 3 days ago and had already bought 2 lots of AMRS at 10.25 and 13.23 before paying 16.40 yesterday so it's not too bad but would have been better if I had bought AMRS today. I was impressed with your rationale for those 2 stocks among others and it lead me to believe there was plenty of substance behind these companies. I have looked at other places to get information. I think the only thing that worried me a little was the amount of selling by ARWR directors but your replies were reassuring. Thanks for all the information you have provided in the biotech area. Originally, I was only really interested in the Polar Capital Biotech fund as I don't have the expertise to pick individual stocks and I began to look at this thread for comments on that fund. I have also bought a small amount of that one but I'll probably leave it at that and see if any of the stocks reach your 3 digit hopes over the next few years!

I have also bought a small amount of that one but I'll probably leave it at that and see if any of the stocks reach your 3 digit hopes over the next few years!Keep focused on the long term opportunities these companies represent and you'll do fine. Follow their twists and turns and you'll get to know them, and have a "yardstick" which can be used to measure other companies. From there you should have the confidence to identify new companies that have promise. It's not rocket science, although perhaps a little scientific understanding can help when trying to decide witch is the better investment between ARWR/ALNY for example. On the face of it it's not obvious, or at least was not as obvious, which is the better company, but dig a little deeper, and it becomes clear that they are not in the same league. The recent comments about skeletal muscle tissue, if taken at face value, certainly bolster the case, and are starting to put the critics to rest I think. The smart money is already moving, but it's still shocking how much ANLY is worth, when we know how much better ARWR is in comparison, but the tables will turn in the not to distant future. With ARWR the turning point should be first FDA approval (1-2 years I think), but between now and then there will be plenty of catalysts that could add up to major share price movements - trial data and proof of how effective/safe TRiM will ultimately determine share price, and in that I have very high confidence.Something else to think about with these two companies is, how many other small companies do you know with potential $1T TAM at their mercy (ones that have a reasonable chance of realizing their full potential at least)?I have not checked what the TAMs are for many stocks, but I'd suspect we are talking the likes of APPL etc. Fair enough that they might never make it there, but the potential is hard to ignore! The best part is that they are still relatively undiscovered!1 -

He doesn't post his losers though, of course his track record looks good.
My risk appetite is a bit lower than Adindas, but fair play, they've made alot of money through taking risks. If you observe it, most of the stocks I mention in this thread and on another thread are the stocks that I have mentioned before when they were still a baby. I do not just claim it when they have made a significant gain.
In general, I beat the S&P 500, VLS 100% equity with a significant margin. But It is still too early to judge it as I just started investing in individual stocks back in June 2020.
I do swing trading so my position keep changing, but let assured I am not here to pump & dumb the stock. Anyway, I always open a small position less than £200 and keep doing DCA while the stock price is moving up/down so that one will definitely not contribute to pump and dumb.
Previously I am just like many people on this MSE here, rely on my RSAs and my Vanguard Life Strategy VLS100 and S&P 500 Mutual/Index fund on my SIIP. In the past there was no incentive to invest in Individual stocks as you could easily get RSAs paying 5%. Also, the fund returned was not that bad. But I just try to learn something outside my comfort zone see the world outside. But before doing that I spent hundred of hours learning the trading and Investing Strategy online. I hardly ever lost money in trading apart for a few pence due the exchange rate and spread between buy//sell becuase I hardly ever sell stock at loss.
You are refering to Nio in previous post, it will depend on when you open your position. I open it when they were around $10 and still up around 177%. But you should not be judging NIO on the current state, wait until they start selling their sedan and see the impact on the stock price.

Hey BrockStoker, do you have an opinion on ATNX?
Apparently possible FDA approval of an oral Brest Cancer drug at the end of the month - I have stumbled across it by accident but don't really know how big a deal this would be.

Does look an interesting prospect though.

@Adyinvestment - Brest cancer could be a very lucrative indication if the drug works, however there is likely lot's of competition in this space, so I'd avoid it unless you know something about the drug which could give it an advantage. I'd also look at the pipeline - if it's working on many drugs/indications, it should be a less risky bet. If it's only one or two, it's more risky generally speaking.Number of employees (higher is better), debt, insider/institutional ownership should also be looked at/factored it.I get the feeling (without having looked at the stock - just going on what's been posted here so far) that it's going to be too high risk to consider.1

Another milestone reached yesterday by my share dealing portfolio which just has the one stock, Orchard:That leaves just one more stock which I hold (EVFM - currently up around 60%) that has not doubled (or more) in value - I'm not counting Rolls Royce since it was Mrs Brock who wanted it.0

The urban myth that hold you back
There a lot of myths in this MSE forum and the news a myth that let you to believe that retailer investor like you is very hard to beat the market, S&P 500, VLS100% equity constantly.
Well you alrady see evidence form the creator of this thread "BrockStoker"
I was in that league before. But after learning from previous sources since a few months ago and see evidence from various sources, I do not believe that urban myth any longer.
These three guys Dave Hanson, Chris Camillo & Jordan McClain are inspirational, documenting their journeys and will open your eyes.

I do not follow their videos regularly but after watching a few of their videos I believe these guys are genuine and not a con / scammer. There are a lot of YouTubers, people in Investing sites producing the same videos, documents and later ask you to subscribe and pay for it, to lure you to buy their funds, pumoimp and dumb the stocks etc. These guys do not make money asking people to buy their courses, selling spots on Patreon. Certainly, they make small money monetizing from advertising. But keep in mind there are three of them, that advert money are too small for three of them compare to what they have made from their own investment.
