No problem with starting the thread on the wrong site, it's just that you're more likely to get useful replies if it's in the right place.

You say you have four storage heaters. But what are the other two heaters? If you plug in and use an electric fire, fan heater, oil filled radiator etc in the daytime it will cost a fortune. Only use the Quantum storage heaters and don't use the Boost setting, adjust them to give more output from the overnight storage if you're cold.
  • Sorry I meant I was using 4 I actually have 6 dimplex quantum storage heaters I’m now not using 4 I’ve got a different heater in the bathroom room which just says dimplex Apollo I think, the writing isn’t clear. it’s higher up on the wall...no I’ve not used the boost. I have them timed to come on when I’ve found it coldest in the day. I’ve took pics il try and post
  • It’s saying as I’m a new user I can’t post links. I took pics and used what was suggested on the link u sent me but says i can’t use links yet

That will cost an arm and a leg because it uses full price electricity in the daytime ! Use it sparingly; if it has a timer, set it to come on perhaps an hour before the end of the cheap rate period. Otherwise switch it off except when you're using the bathroom. Leave the bathroom door open when not in use so that it's warmed by the cheaper storage radiators.

Make sure you're familiar with the instructions.

    And heater No. 6 is...?

Switching to a cheaper tariff will save you some money. Even if you stay with the same supplier ask them what their cheapest tariff is for you because it isn't going to be the one you are on at the minute.

Can you provide your meter readings so that people can check how much electricity you are actually using.

Meter readings are better for this than an amount in monetary terms.
  • Sunday 4pm rate 1 19003 Today 17th 2:30 rate 1 19027. 0.21.29 pence

    Sunday 4pm rate 2 36373. Today 17th 2:30 rate 2 36448. 009.61 pence

I can’t put a pic of boiler on but looks more like the second pic u sent me.
  • Gerry1 sorry I know I keep confusing you there are 6 dimplex quantam storage heaters and the dimplex Apollo in the bath room. I’ve wrote down now what was used since Sunday 4pm until today 2:30pm and the prices it says on the meter.

With four night storage heaters, that would be utterly disastrous ! rolleyes.gif

In the absence of gas, Dimplex Quantum heaters on Economy 7 is the least worst option.

Hi Gerry, many years ago when I was in this position, I switched mine off and used alternative heaters.
I also just heated water as I needed it with the immersion.
It's a bad position to be in, clearly you are more knowledgeable on the subject of course.
