Thank you all for the cards.
Delivered friend's flower arrangement, happily she seemed to love it.
    Tidied lounge.
Got guest room ready for mum.
Finalised meal plan and shopping list
    No time for drumming
    Visited MILs friend with present
Visited MIL, who saw doctor today as she has a chest infection
    Went to Mr T
Met mum and brother as planned
Cooked and ate dinner, washed up then all slobbed in front of TV
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.

    Morning all

Another early one for me, couldn't sleep so just decided to get up. We are going out for the day today, long drive so not much time for anything else. I did my list yesterday so all is looking pretty good. I will whizz round and do my dailies before we leave this morning so they are out of the way.

Have a good day all. Hugs, sticks and spoons available to those in need x
  • Morning, all,
I have a dining table! That bomb site is getting smaller!

Moving house a week and a bit before Christmas wasn't ideal, but it's our home now.

Thankfully, we don't host, so that's one less thing to worry about.

Today's tasks, a trip to our recycling centre with cardboard and gubbins; food shopping (not Christmas food) and finishing sorting and putting away the remaining detritus.

I have misplaced a Christmas present for my mum to my brother; I'm sure it's here somewhere... So I have wrapping and cards and write before Wednesday.

    Have a successful day, everyone!

    Bathrooms finally cleaned.
Decoration boxes moved from the LR at last.
SC lamb cooking as DH has to go out tonight.
DD is cooking some Christmas biscuits.
I’m about to restart present wrapping but am feeling decidedly “not right”. Enough to think that I might have to see about a dr appointment.
Catch you all on the new thread.
  • Floor swept.
Extra items of clothing and footwear deposited on the stairs for Himself to take up (which he did).
Poinsettia looking somewhat straggly, dead leaves removed and watered. They might be Mexican plants, but I don't think Himself's preference for central heating at 23 degrees and leaving the poor thing within three foot of the nearest radiator really helps much.
Throws taken off settee for washing/drying.

He says he's going to clean the kitchen (ha! He'd have to take the three tons of Christmas related junk food off the countertops to even have a hope of it actually being clean - but he won't, so it'll be less dirty than beforehand at best) and the floors including the shower room.

Will believe it when I see it.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

My gob is well and truly smacked :( flc

Because I am basically a decent human being I wrote a Christmas card for Dad's 'friend', Barbara, thanking her for making my Dad smile again and giving her my phone number so that if problems arise when he's over in Benidorm with her for five weeks Jan/ Feb she can contact me.

Dad informed me at lunch time that he asked Barbara to open the card whilst he was with her as he wasn't sure what I would have written! I jokingly asked if he thought I would have written something nasty - and he said 'yes' I nearly fell off my chair! I would never do that - I just wouldn't send a card to someone if I felt any animosity towards them. I mean, who would send someone a Christmas card and write something nasty in it?

DS and GF were as shocked as I was - sending 'are you ok?' texts. Dad went on to tell me I was quite capable of doing that and he had to walk on eggshells round me as he didn't know when I would kick off. I suggested to him that I am a different person to the one he (thinks he) knows and that I am even a different person to the one I was a year ago. I then asked for an example of when he'd had to walk on eggshells or when I had kicked off and he couldn't give me one. Trying to fob me off with when I was ill - twenty years ago. Yes I was upset when he suddenly landed Barbara on me a few weeks ago (around the first anniversary on Mum's death and as I started to process the reality that Mum wasn't coming back) - but I was perfectly civil to her (and not upset in front of her), and explained to Dad (later) that I would prefer to have had some choice in the when and where of our first meeting. I certainly didn't kick off in any way.

DS and GF said I handled the situation really well. It's the first time I've ever stood up to my Dad and called him out. Doesn't mean that what he said didn't hurt

Just DS's presents left to wrap - my bedroom really looks like Santa's grotto now :) Birds were fed, recycling put out, WM x 2 draped on airer and radiators.

DS and GF have asked me, DS's Dad and step-mum to make a team at the village pub quiz tonight. Why not? :)
