This seems ideal as it has touch screen. Seems to have a decent hard drive size too.

Isn't HD just HD ?
720p 1280×720 progressive scan: 923,600 pixels (~0.92 MP) per frame
1080i 1920×1080 interlaced: 1,036,800 pixels (~1.04 MP) per field or 2,073,600 pixels (~2.07 MP) per frame
your 240gb laptop had 720 HD, while the 120gb had full hd. It is cheapish to replace a disk, not so with screen electronics. the 120GB laptop above was a better one, due to the screen.
However, she and many others do not notice the difference, but when it comes to working real estate and she may have to scroll down more on web pages due to images of a fixed pixel size, and you also get a clearer picture too. Title bars and other drop down list may reduce the actual working area of software.
Personally on my laptop is pre full hd and its screen is 1600x900. to get the extra depth I have moved the taskbar to the left instead of on the bottom

Celeron CPU ... will never be a good choice, but may be "good enough" for her needs.

HD can just mean 720p (typically 1366 x 768 pixels screen). Full HD is 1080p (typically 1920 x 1080 pixels).0 -
Isn't HD just HD ?
It’s daft, I agree, but HD is actually rather low resolution. Usually around 1300 x 700.
Full HD refers to a standard known as 1080p which has 1920 x 1080 pixels on the screen. It really is much better, especially for browsing as you see much more of the web page on the screen without scrolling.
I strongly recommend full HD, but at the £200 price point you will struggle to find anything. Maybe an old refurb with a decent screen. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Well this is HD

Yes, I know.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Well deduced, Sherlock.
As I said before ... it might be "good enough" for her, but I wouldn't thank anyone for getting me that laptop.0 -
Really, the budget is too low. The HD screen resolution is usable, just not nice.
Personally, I’d sacrifice other things to get a full HD screen. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
The higher price units have FULL HD.
If you, like many other, can live with the screen resolution, scratches and dents, - mauled by a tiger? @£70 this is not that bad bad, but may need a psu? Most here would say to add an ssd, but perhaps not necessary? This is about twice as fast as the £200 celeron that you want to buy with the SSD.

If you want something cheap, best it to wait until after Christmas, or pay stupid money, or buy the ebay bits and start swapping case and screens.0
