We had this happen at our current address as it used to be a rental. Still after 5 years we are getting pension statements, P60s and the like. We just wait until we get a pile and then put it back in the post box. We once did get a phonecall from the council confirming that "ex tenant" did not live there. Turns out they lied on the admission form so that their kid got into a better school!

We used to get a lot of doctors appointment letters. Just mentioned it to the receptionist when I happened to be there and they flagged it up. They had 2 families of ex tenants registered at our address, 10 people in total including myself and my partner. That stopped as soon as I flagged it up.

We had a big fire in our house, and we moved into a rented house two miles away. It never occurred to me to tell the doctors.

Anyway, when I needed to see the doctor and mentioned that we were living elsewhere temporarily, they kicked up a huge fuss and took us off their list, as we were now out of their area. We registered with a better practice locally. We never moved back to the old house, so it's probably for the best that it worked out like that.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I don't know why he has to involve you at all he can just keep everything in his name and address and ask the Royal Mail to redirect to his sister.

I imagine it's because a long term royal mail redirect is quite expensive and it's likely he cannot ask his bank to deliver his mail to a different address because he hasn't told them he's letting the flat out and switched the mortgage to a buy-to-let.

Sounds like your LL is ducking taxes but still taking advantage of all the public services at the expense of other tax payers. If you're moving out soon, I'd report him to HMRC so they can investigate. If you're not moving out, beware that the relationship between you and your LL will likely become hostile.

Sorry guys but I am sure many of you have seen posts about Ground Rent companies demanding large sums of money over unpaid ground rent which might only be a few pounds but the " legal firm " is demanding a huge sum because they have sent out numerous letters.
They will ignore change of address letters and make money from Home owners and Landlords
So sometimes letters will arrive addressed to the occupier or Landlord without it being underhand.
I am not saying this is the case with this poster.

I don't buy it. It's the LL's responsibility to change their address for all correspondence.

We live in a private rented flat for now, our landlord lives abroad but is still using our address as his own,

he says medical bills are too expensive and he brings his children here to the doctor and dentist

he asked me to lie to yhe doctor surgery to say we all live in the same house,

he still gets all his mail to our house tax bills, bank letters etc

    Certainly doesn't sound like it!

when you eventually leave and he wants to make unreasonable deductions, use it as leverage, but report him anyways, I hate tax cheats

And when you do this, OP remember that it's you that HMRC will go for, as you're in the country and accessible.

Sincere apologies for being unclear: Post any post delivered to you addressed to the landlord back in any Royal Mail post-box with "Not known at this address, return to sender" written on it.
This is actually a pretty stupid thing to do, given that there is only a suspicion that the landlord is up to no good.
Redirection is expensive and cannot be continued indefinitely.

I agree. Much more sensible to just bin it.

There seem to be a bunch of idiots on these boards who think that rental agreements should be restricted to what is required by law.
In reality, most landlords who expect a little extra from a tenant are likely to provide a good deal in return - something that seems to be ignored by the more prejudiced posters.
