Good info Alex. I never got round to calling them but for a 10% discount I might be tempted to stay.

I also got the price rise email yesterday and only signed up in June and will be cancelling and moving on. On the plus side when I signed up I got a £75 amazon voucher for signing up so have just done a rough calculation and paying £21 per month with a £75 voucher back it appears that I will have only been paying £8.50 per month while I've been with them. So while it may be annoying, when you think about it, it could be good news!

Now TV Fibre 12 month contract - £25 per month - £90 Topcashback - effectively £17.50 per month - not bad

That appears to be for new (NowTV BB) customers only which for the OP at least shouldn't be an issue however it doesn't mention the Anytime Calls package so if that's important then that's worth £8x12 (£96 total). You'd have to click through it to see if it is included or not.

NowTV Broadband is on Quidco at £90 cashback for the £25 broadband and unlimited calls package. For me, unlimited calls aren't needed because I get them from my mobile, so I think I'm going to plump for the Shell Energy broadband 12 month contract at £23.99 per month, with a £50 bill credit, £50 Amazon voucher and free Google home, equiv £15.66 per month over the first year.

Well, I rang up Voda this morning. Very pleasant call but no attempt to keep me. She advised unless switching to Virgin there is no need to give them notice as the new provider can just do a "working line takeover" and as long as that's initiated within 30 days of the date of the email no penalty will be charged. Just signed up with Shell and diarised to claim the Amazon voucher and the Google Home Mini.

  • Intend to switch after receiving an email on 6 December and 12mths into an 18mth contract.

Does anybody know for sure what constitutes a cancellation to Vodafone to ensure it is within 30 days of my 6/12 email notice, i.e., by 05 January 2020?

Is it once Vodafone are automatically informed by Shell, or when the actual switchover occurs which is estimated to be 9 January - 4 days later than 30 days notification deadline?

James, the Vodafone rep told me that as long as they're notified of the intention to switch by the end of 30 days it's fine. They don't need the switch to have actually happened within 30 days. I did however make a contemporaneous note of this call and keep it with my other Vodafone stuff pending completion of the transfer and closure of the Vodafone account, just in case they try and pull a fast one. My suggestion to anyone would be to get confirmation individually from the supplier.

I switched to Shell and wish I hadn't. CS is NON EXISTENT!
I needed to get the bb login details so I could use my existing router (since the supplied one is CR*P). Tried by email, facebook and was eventually told I had to PHONE. So phoned and got stuck in a queue, offered call back which NEVER HAPPENED.
Called again, queue again, call back with did happen this time and I got my details. But why I had to go through this just to get something they SHOULD provide at the outset.
I have complaint raised with them that they HAVEN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED after a MONTH. Another month and I can pass it it the ombudsman.
They told me I could get 3% off shell fuel for being a customer, just get a card. NO I CAN'T over a month and they still haven't fixed that.
It is not just me there are loads of folk complaining about Shell energy.

WRT Vodafone you can move to another provider with out telling them, you will get a refund (it took a month to get mine) of outstanding prepaid money.
You can move by just signing up with another provider.

  • i informed them on the 11th Dec 2 days after them telling me of the price increase.

It has not stopped them sending me an email and letter saying they will charge an early termination fee.
