March savings submitted £191, ever thankful to have savings in the bank during these uncertain times.

Not my best month but it is a saving and doesnt include my cash supplies at home should I need them...

    number 113 reporting:
+ £2900 this month. Payrise and LISA bonus added. I think i will meet my £12K by end of may. Really thought about changing my goal to £15k but with Covid-19 i may have to dip into my pot so will just wait and see.

Hard times for saving, Wentthedaywell?, and your perspective is a good one. One of my US relatives in Washington state has just received a medical bill approaching $10k for testing and care - they didn't have the virus, although it seemed awfully like they did for a few days, and despite having medical insurance their "high deductible plan" left them with a huge bill. The deductible then resets in a couple of weeks, so if they get sick again they will get another one. So, I agree, thank heaven for the NHS.
Looking across my assorted pension and S&S ISA savings is pretty depressing, the notional loss is six figures now, but i'm grateful that I spent the time putting a plan together a couple of years ago, and I see not reason to depart from it now. My annual rebalance is at the end of April, so will try and ignore the markets until then. I have the advantage that i'm a decade away from (early) retirement, so can sit it out - even a "lost decade" isn't critical, although would mean a rather more frugal retirement than i'd hoped. Must be tough though if this was supposed to be the year of escape.

£1336 saved for March, higher than expected. My holiday for the year has now been cancelled and driving lessons and test postponed, so more ££ in the pot for the foreseeable hopefully.
    I'll update the form shortly.
    Save £12k in 2022 = £3705.97/ £7,500 (49%)
    Save £12k in 2021 #76 = £11,857.21/ £10,000 (118%)

  • #26 adding another £3,000 for March. With everything that has been going on and due to the fact we put our house on the market last week, we decided to sell one of our cars, pay off the small amount of finance and clear our credit cards leaving just over £3k to go into the savings account. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that we are now around £400 better off each month come pay/bill day.

We also got a refund of £969 from SCS as they can't fulfil our order of a new sofa, decided against putting that in the savings to have a little bit extra available in cash to see us through the COVID shenanigans.
