  • Good morning everybody.

So i've *finally* got my authorities bundle ready, the trouble is that it is 36MB after being compressed, which means its over the 25MB limit for me to attach and if I go to send it, it is transformed into a Google Drive link.

Is this acceptable or should I get it printed off and copies posted?

    Thanks.

    Hi yes.

I used it to compress down from the original 117MB to the 36MB I have now.

What 'authorities' are consuming so much memory?  Let's see the names of the larger ones and how many pages are involved in each please.

If they won't compress lower, it looks like you'll be needing a wheelbarrow to deliver a paper version to the court!

        :D

The worst offenders for sheer number of pages are:

ParkingEye Ltd v Somerfield Stores Ltd ChD [2011] EWHC 4023(QB)

This one is 151 pages on its own.

    Vidal-Hall v Google Inc [2015] EWCA 311 https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/google-v-vidal-hall-judgment.pdf

    49 pages

Dowson & Ors v Chief Constable of Northumbria Police (Rev 1) [2010] EWHC 2612 (QB) (20 October 2010)

Surely just the relevant paragraphs/pages, but with a link to the full judgment, are sufficient?  Many posters we've helped have quoted Somerfield, but I've never seen them copying 150+ pages of transcript. The small claims court isn't the place for humungous numbers of pages of judgments from here, there and everywhere.

Looks like you're going to be taking down more rainforests than the Wagathas!  Please save the planet! 🌍
I'm under the impression I have to share full transcripts if I'm going to rely upon them?

I see where you're coming from and it makes sense, it just conflicts with what I believe I've already been told.

As with most posters here I'm a novice and not had to defend myself in Court before.

I'll do as you suggest and I appreciate your support. Thanks.

As with most regulars here, I am not a lawyer, I've never been to court, I proffer my opinion, it is not legal advice.

My view is also that the more and more cases and bulk transcripts you produce and attempt to rely on, the more you expose yourself to the Judge asking how it impacts on your position. Can you articulate coherently each of the cases you are quoting and their relevance to the case you are making. I think you have to ask yourself what a District Judge, with little time available and a heavy schedule, is going to make of a bundle that is going to need Pickfords to place on his desk and whether your case will get off on the best footing.

But before you either take my view or you destroy a rainforest, see what others say.

I'd agree, provide the relevant pages of Somerfield plus a link to the full Judgment.  I think that's the one to prune.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

I'll prune the other ones I listed above too?

Arbitrarily shall I prune anything above, say, 10 pages?

I'm going through the pdf and adding bookmarks to it as well which should help the Judge.

    Thanks.
