We've just moved from Tesco 512 mb £17.99 pm to Post Office £25.99 for landline, off peak calls and broadband unlimited.

Line only capable of up to 3 mb and we were told to expect between 2 - 3mb. My test results are below:

Download Speed: 2442 kbps (305.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 378 kbps (47.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Seems much better value than what we were paying with Tesco with landline and call charges on top.

    Thanks for the link.

well my dad is on virgin media and im using a router through his so i get wireless internet and my results from my computer is:

    1953 download speed 2mb
    129 upload speed

i have no idea what any of it means lol

it depends on what package he is on, if he has the 2mb line then this is exactly what you should get, more than likely he is on a 2mb line this is adequate for most people

    hi

    im 464 down load
    199 up load

aol say bt line cant go any higher thats why ive never been up graded

    its so slow

    amy advice please
go to the bt site and do a check broadband availability and see what it says about sppede it can get, AOL may not say all the truths so as to keep you with them, if you can get virgin then go for it, you pay a bit more but you get the speeds you require,
you could get bt 151(faults) to check the gain speed on the line and make sure it is set to the highest level - they can increase it if it is not on max, this sometimes can help with internet speed.

My results are speed down 0.9Mbps and speed up 0.2Mbps. I am supposed to be getting 2.2Mbps. I don't really understand what the speed down speed up means? Please can anyone explain.

    Thanks in advance.

Speed down is from the net to your PC and up is when you upload to the net.
