thats real bad not much faster than DIAL UP LOL
  • Over 5mb on my UPTO 8mb connection at 5.50pm using WiFi. I'm very happy!:rotfl:

I'm with Orange and in the past 4 and half years that I've been with them my Internet has NEVER been off. Thats dam good if you ask me!
  • Using my wi-fi router, I get up to 6MB during day (I pay for the 8MB service) BUT, from 6PM > 12AM and at w/e's I am lucky if I get 1MB!!!!!
As I use the internet only at those peak times (I am at work 8AM > 5PM), I never benefit from good speeds :(

Swtiching to The Post Office in Jan :) gotta be better than BT and its defo cheaper than I pay now AND I will get UK customer service AND unlimited usage allowance!

I`ve just signed up with www.fast4.net and at this moment I`m running at 7.5 megs, not bad for £15-95 a month unlimited.
Will test the speed on one of the links.
  • Just checked www.fast4.net website and though it Seems OK, I looked at their TOS and of course the regular 'hidden' stuff is there, they say ''We do not have a Fair Usage Policy but we do operate a network abuse policy '' dig deeper it actually says ''no P2P usage allowed'', they say '' We do not have a minimum period on our broadband accounts'', dig deeper it actually says ''if you want to leave before 12 months of your contract you have to pay an exit fee''.
Therefore they actually dont offer anything different and the cost £26.45 is not that cheap as Tiscali (£20) and The Post Office (£25) are cheaper.
  • 474kbps down / 183kbps up. Don’t actually understand these numbers tho.

My isp is virgin.net – has been for the last 10 years. I pay for an (up to) 8mb line for £17.99/month. I mostly use my pc through the day.

Since Feb this year my connection has felt slow. It’s very sporadic and the last couple months has got worse. And I get disconnected many times a day. It feels as slow as dialup. I complained to virgin and they ran a test and said it’s fine.

I rang virgin for a mac code so I can change providers, and the guy said there were loads of ppl leaving virgin atm. He said he’s not surprised and he’d leave too if he was a customer as the service they’re currently providing is so shoddy! angry-smiley-030.gif

Just tried and download speed: 7025 kbps and upload speed: 325 kbps

I'm with Sky, paying for the 8mb so not too bad this morning, but tried yesterday evening and it was lagging, barely 3mg. Couldn't even get the upload to run lol! But that is typical, sometimes my connection is quite fast other times I feel like I've reverted to dial up.
