  • Hi kelpie yes I keep looking hopefully something will come up :)

So finally I’ve got child maintenance sorted out god that was a struggle. I’ve given them my account details three times now and yet they still had the account that was closed in 2017. Finally got to speak to a manager and hopefully now he’s put them on my account and when I pointed out there is a major floor in the system he basically said oh it’s sorted now we won’t be looking into that. Well it’s only took 8 weeks and over 20 calls to be sorted out (hopefully). The money is being put away for driving lessons for DD so she can get a car as she’s been saving money from her wages to get one.

I looked at my credit rating yesterday and as suspected it’s worse than bad currently 83 but oh well it can only go up from there but one very disturbing thing on the closed accounts was the joint loan me and my ex took out is showing a balance of £7045 so I’m hoping this isn’t the bite on the !!! that’s going to come as this will nearly double my debt. He moved to Australia over a year ago and as far as I knew he was paying it and when he sold the house the rest was supposed to be paid off, I’m not contacting them as I don’t want to stir a whole mess up atm so the plan is to work with what I currently have and see what happens with that one. I just hope to god somehow I’m not getting landed with that debt solely as that’s virtually the whole amount and I only went joint as at the time his credit rating was so bad they wouldn’t let him take it out on his own well how the tables have turned.

Day 5 NSD’s so I’m defiantly getting there :money:

  • Today is one of my last weekly paydays I have 3 more then it’s on to monthly pay which I think might be easier to budget. I’ve moved food, petrol and ecig money into my HyperJar so they are in their own jars and ready.

Food shopping is going to be slightly more as I need washing liquid and fabric conditioner this week DD has been doing loads of washing (rewashing for no reason at all) while I have been at work I’m slightly annoyed by this she does it a lot so words have been had. I don’t understand why once I’ve washed something and it doesn’t smell as strong of conditioner as it’s been in her wardrobe why she feels the need to rewash everything it’s so annoying.

Day 6 NSD today but tomorrow will be a spend day as I need petrol and shopping but then I’m aiming for another 6 I’m determined I’m going to get everything money wise I need in one day so then I’m not tempted to pop into a shop and spend more than I need to.

  • I admit I'm a sucker for nice smells on my clothing, it's a comfort for me but I would never rewash clothes just for that... maybe if someone else was paying for it but then again it can ruin the clothing quality to be washed too much. There are things out there you can get for relatively cheap that you stick in the wardrobe and drawer to keep things smelling nice. I know some people even use car fresheners or laundry sheets or make their own DIY ones if that will help?

  • Thank you jenny, I’ve just bought some of those Christmas tree sticks and she’s put them in. I have no idea what my she does it all the time but not I’ve told her to stop maybe she will listen. She uses perfume daily too which you can smell all over the house for ages (luckily she buys her own) but I ive told her I can’t keep buying washing stuff every two weeks as it’s only me and her.

  • So I did my food shop today as I ran out of milk and sugar. Came under the £30 but I think the biggest surprise was I had budgeted extra for a lamb breast piece but at the butchers it was twice the price, when did it become so expensive? So I felt bad and stood there and said yeah that’s fine but upon getting home half of it will do two meals so not all bad. The HyperJar works really well I just connected my card to it and now I know what I have left from the budget. So I ended up spending £25.75 in total but note to self don’t take DD shopping again as doughnuts and cookies and other small items ended up in the trolley. So much for planning but a much cheaper shop than normal and I did get 5 loaves of bread as the were 27p each so they’re now in the freezer. At least I’m sticking within the budget just not as low as I’d have liked it to be.

  • So now today in NSD 6 after needing some essential food shopping yesterday.

Not much happening today just housework and washing day here. I got my washing stuff from Aldi they have some lovely conditioner in there for £1.35 smells so good. I’ve now drawn a line to where they need to be filled up to and also told DD only to wash things that are dirty and wear things more than once (obviously excluding underwear) which she did say what even my underwear god kids at times .

  • Did some baking today, made a vegetable and lentil lasagne, chocolate orange and vanilla marble cake and some cookies. So that’s some of the dinners for the week made and plenty of snacks for work and college.

Just cleaned the house today and finally put the Christmas tree up I’m not a huge Christmas fan I’ll admit but DD loves it so I’ve put the decorations up as she’s at work so it’ll be a nice surprise when she gets home.

Made pizza just for me as DD has been invited to a party and told not to eat beforehand so I just made one with mushrooms, chicken and peppers on and it’s ready to be cooked in a while.

  • Day 7 NSD’s.

I’ve just done an excel spreadsheet for next year and joined the frugal living challenge to keep me on track. I need to stick to the plan as according to that I will be debt free in just over a year so no take aways and no spending on food we don’t actually need.

It’s going to be a tough year but very worthwhile in the long run so now I’m all set and determined this is going to happen. I need to change my food shopping to late Saturday or Sunday evening to get the YS items which will help no end in the long run. I’m not a fussy eater at all and DD isn’t too bad she hates mushrooms and onions but apart from that she’s really good with anything else. So now I’m counting the pennies like never before and I want to get this done as I could be debt free by January 2021 and that would be amazing and then I can start saving for a mortgage. Thats my end goal to be financially better off than I’ve ever been.
