Returning tv to very

Hi
Hoping for some advice please. I purchased a tv on 25th November from very on buy now pay later.
Now the tv does not seem to be of good quality for the money I paid.
Picture quality is not very good, and as I said for the money I would expect a lot better picture quality. My old tv with lower specs was a better picture.
Telephoned very today and they said I can not return it as I have turned the tv on and this is stated in the returns policy.
I said “how am I to know what the quality is like if you don’t turn tv on”
They said if I am saying it is faulty they would send an engineer out and if found not faulty I would have to pay engineers charge.
But I am not saying it’s faulty it’s just poor quality.
I asked if I could exchange it for a better tv but they said no.
Where do I stand on this,I don’t want to be stuck with a tv that’s poor picture quality.
Thank you in advance.

Tell them you are returning it due to TV being not of satisfactory quality.
Which tv is it? How much did you pay? What specifically is wrong with the picture quality?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

It’s Samsung

Paid £749
When watching tv people’s faces are kind off blurry and kind off distorted not clear.
Is it me am I asking too much, but as I previously mentioned our old tv has lower specs but picture quality is better.0 -

Are you sure it's set up properly? edited to add: that is a huge screen , you will need to be sitting well back from it for it to look okBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

70" tv in what size of room?
How far are you sitting from the screen?
Sounds more like you bought a tv that is way too big for the room it is in. Plus they take a bit of knowledge to set them up properly - you will never replicate what you see in store.0 -
As it's online selling wouldn't they have the right to return still switched on or not?0

Yes but they can deduct up to 100% of the purchase price if the handling goes beyond what you can do in a shop. You can't go into a shop, unseal a TV, set it up and watch it for God knows how long.
Under the old DSR's you could do exactly that and they had to refund you but they changed that as it was unfair. Now you have to do a bit of research and find reviews etc on what you buy.
You also have to remember in a shop the TV's are fine tuned and display 4k content to get them looking their very best. In the real world the TV channels are SD and 1080i if you are lucky. So even if you did view this model in store it's not a true reflection of watching normal TV
Looking at reviews for that TV they seem pretty good so it may just need tweaking in the settings.
It's also Very so they don't do well with returns.0 -
