Still only managed 1 NSD this month :( I am aiming for zero spend on the days I have set myself as a target. Having a nightmare month so far, both cars needing urgent and unforeseen work (alternator and new gearbox) so what little emergency fund we did have has gone.

Bright side is that it has made me even more determined to get my debts cleared and emergency fund up to at least £1000 in 2020.

IvysMom, fwiw you're not alone, my car needs an MOT but attempts to charge its dead battery so far really haven't worked! Not sure what is wrong with it but I need to get it looked at soon. These things happen and they can't be helped. Keep slogging away, is the main thing xx

    Well done beanielou :) :T:T
  • 8/NSD today - but £15 or so to spend on parcel deliveries tomorrow. Shopping around and discovered Hermes can be cheaper than Royal Mail small parcels, so will save a few bob. So, all good in the hood. I am getting to almost 'enjoy' this thoughtful way of considering my spending options..... Who knew?! :)

There's not a LOT in it, cathybird. But for a Royal Mail sized small parcel under 1kg in the UK, the cost is £3. With Hermes for the same weight (under 1kg) and allowing for a slightly bigger package size, the price is £2.85. Plus you get up to £20 value insurance thrown in for free. I get a 20% student discount with Hermes that makes it worth doing. :j

I had 4 parcels to post so saved £2.88 this time. And easy for me to drop them off at Johnson's dry cleaners on my way into work tomorrow, without the long queue at the post office.... ;)

    Evening all!
Whoopeee....a NSD day for me today; bringing a total of 4/12.
But I know for a fact tomorrow and possibly Friday won't be.

Beanielou and optimistic saver, you're both doing amazing:).
Optimistic saver, thank you for the tip about Hermes, good to know, especially about cutting down on queuing ( my local PO always has long queues, even worse at this time of year!).

Thank you Vanlady - and well done on your 4th NSD! Even with tomorrow and Friday's planned spends, you look like you are well on target at this point in the month. :T This forum is such a big help on the motivation-front. Great to check in and read how everyone is doing!

  • No spends yesterday takes me to 3 NSD's.

    No spends planned today, either.

Tomorrow could be different. I've got a free ticket to a friends boxing show, but the drinks/travel isn't free. It's an expense I could do without really given it's such a busy month so I might have to politely decline. Or just take the car. We'll see.
