Hi Julicorn and fellow MFWers. #87 reporting in with a small overpayment of £53.61 this month which takes my total to £354.84/£2300. I am nowhere near where I wanted to be at this point but things have obviously gone a bit astray for most people this year. I am disappointed but remain working towards the target I set myself at the beginning of the year.
My brother is back in work so I don't need to support him like I was. I must say having the money put by and being able helping my brother was an extra boost as I stilll had my emergency fund available if it came to it.
I have rebalanced finances nicely and managed to save a good chunk of my pay this month despite going part time and taking a drop of £700 or so a month.
From now until the end of the year everything I sell or earn extra to my main job I will send it off to the mortgage. May still not make it but I am going to give it a good go.
Keep well everybody and enjoy the sunshine carefully at the weekend.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Well done @bit_by_bit - it's brilliant that you have been able to support your brother. We have been supporting our Son (his flexible hours contract went from choosing shifts to fit in with his music to picking up the leftovers when the contracted hours staff had all been accommodated first) - so hard but as you say, such a relief to be able to helpSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hi Julicorn,
#36 checking in. We are still focused on building up savings. However, the regular saver matured so decided to throw that at the mortgage to get us down through the next £’000 threshold.£3,431.32 paid in August to bring 2020 total to £4,087.62. Obviously this busts the reduced target I had given myself for the year. I will cautiously aim for £5k alongside the savings building.Felt quite sick making this payment today given the uncertainty around my job but at the same time the size of our mortgage frightens me a little. So here we are. Thanks to everyone here for the ongoing motivation and focus.Small OPs are better than no OPs

Thankyou Suffolk_lass. My brother lives on a low wage with support from universal credit. He is terrified any change will cause his universal credit to stop and throw him into debt. this has happened several times. I am equally glad you were able to support your son. Some very inspirational OPs again this month - I don't know how you guys do it!
I'm pleased to report that our monthly payment went down after our mortgage holiday - I think this is just because of the small OPs we'd made before we took the holiday!! So our monthly OPs now increase by a couple of £s
July OPs of £54.51 from me5 -

Hi All
Just reporting another payment of £1929.41 for August (number 57). Most of it has been taken from savings this month as I've been supporting my youngest son who is now out of work due to Covid lockdown measures and is now about to become an unemployed person claiming Universal Credit. Bad time for young new workers as he has no right to redundancy payments. He's applied for 9 jobs so far, but not in his usual field so he's not getting them. The worst part is low self esteem from being out of work. My other son is still on furlough however he had a job interview on Thursday and it seemed to go well, but waiting for the result. His company has furloughed all its' UK employees. Tough times, but they have a roof over their heads as I'm still working which means they're not homeless as well. Good luck everyone

#117 - Good start for the month of August for me - put in £950 to start and will be looking to add further at the end of the month. Thanks to a regular savings account maturing!
Thanks Julicorn!
