MF - now the 2 year journey to financial freedom ๐

Work has been delayed until next week - can't risk it with rain imminent but to be honest, I'm happy about it - I really didn't want to have workmen here while I'm on leave, I just want to relax and enjoy our time ๐ย
Not much to report - I've shredded loads of paper to make logs, the hotbin composter has arrived and I've eaten out of the fridge so no cooking or waste today ๐ The seeds are doing well and the garden looks good - all is well in my world! ๐2 -
I've spent today being lazy!! ๐ย
The weather has been pretty horrendous over the past couple of days- cold, strong winds and she'd loads of rain in the past 36 hours! ๐ The rain is great for the garden but I miss the sunshine - I'm just glad we managed to burn all the garden stuff we needed to get rid of on Tuesday! ๐ย
Anyway, I've had a really lovely week off work- plenty of things achieved and lots of quality time with dh - and it's given me an opportunity to really think about how I want to structure my days going forward.ย
With all the disruption of the pandemic, the work being done on the external renovations and the upcoming change in circumstances with the kids house purchase, I feel the need to streamline my days and get into routines so that I get the most out of the time I have. I'm incredibly fortunate to have (for me) a charmed life - I adore my dh and family, love my home and garden, enjoy my job and have little in the way of financial pressure. However, I know that the things that do bug me are all of my own making (procrastination and laziness being my greatest failings) and are easy to rectify if I just get into some simple routines.ย
So, tomorrow is my fresh start - I'll be cleaning the house, cooking, finishing my canvases and having a 'fabbing' session. I've joined the flylady thread to help me focus on daily cleaning routines and get into good habits and I am going to write and complete 'to do' lists daily. It's not as if I have anything major to do - possibly that's part of the issue, its easier to put stuff off when nothings that bad! ๐ - I just need to make sure that I do stuff regularly as opposed to the 'all or nothing' approach that seems to be my style!! ๐ย
Anyway- I'm off to start my list for tomorrow ๐3 -
Well that didn't go according to plan! ๐ work has been insane since my holiday so I've been doing long hours and then flopping into bed! ๐ The garden is coming on nicely though and we've been doing the basics in the house so it's not too bad - absolutely no routines sorted yet but I'm hoping that after a good clean tomorrow, I'll be able to start next week with a vengeance ๐ย
I've finally found a breadmaker and that is being delivered today which I'm incredibly happy about - I was devastated when my last one broke - I love hm bread but I really don't like kneading dough. I do have a fab recipe for no-knead bread but I have to start it early in the morning for it to be ready to cook in the evening and I keep forgetting!ย
Today I'm having a lazy day - I had too much to drink and a late night so feel a bit delicate - I really need to stop living like a teenager ๐3 -
Breadmaker has arrived and works beautifully ๐ I've been really good with the housework routines this week - I'm getting up early, showering, cleaning the house then starting work ๐ results are making me very happy, calm and relaxed!ย
Fascias and guttering have been replaced and the flat roof will be started on Monday - we've decided to hold off on the rest of the garden work though as our neighbours have started building an extension which will overlook our front garden so I'm going to have a redesign ๐ I've pretty much decided on what I want to do with it though - I'm putting in large borders with a path going through the centre. I will need to radically cut back our hedge though so I will wait until the late autumn/early winter so that we don't disturb the wildlife. In all honesty, I'm okay with the delay - I plan on planting a shed load of spring bulbs so it will work out well in that respect and it will also give us time to get a bit more cash towards it ๐ย
We are still eating mainly from stores and the veg plot looks like it may be starting production - we pulled out our first radish yesterday and we'll be able to pick some salad leaves today! ๐ we've got flowers coming on the tomatoes and beans and we're also getting a baby courgette growing! It's ridiculous how excited it's making me! ๐

Flat roof still not done and contractor sacked! ๐ The work was meant to be done on 3rd June but he kept messing me about so we've parted ways - it does mean that I'll need to find someone else (he was going to be doing the garden stuff too) but I'm okay with that - saves me beating him with sticks! ๐ย
Garden is doing lovely- first lettuce leaves were eaten over the weekend- all the tomatoes have flowers forming and the squash are transforming into triffids!! It's all very satisfying ๐ย
Best news of all is that I'm going to be able to see my grandbaby this weekend!!! ๐๐พ๐ I'm soooo looking forward to it- I haven't seen him since lockdown started and it's been almost unbearable ๐ I'm happy to avoid the rest of the planet but it has broken my heart not seeing him - not sure I'll let my dd have him back! ๐๐ย
Anyway, financially things are fine - I'm going to get the flat roof done then I think I'll just wait until October before I start anything else. Dh may have to start working from the office in the next few weeks which will be depressing for both of us but we'll cope and we're incredibly grateful that we are both in jobs that have been pretty much unaffected by the pandemic- I know that it's a worrying time for so many people ๐ย
I still have plenty of food in although my supplier is unable to provide me with any more deliveries at the moment so I'm concerned that I may have to either find someone else or look to alternatives - dh is very much of the opinion that I should just drop my ethical consumption until things are back to 'normal' but I really want to avoid that!ย
Right, ramble over! Hope all is well ๐2 -

How frustrating that you were messed around but definitely best to know now than when they are half way though a job.ย
In relation to the cleaning routine Team Tomm is fab so maybe take a lookยMortgage Aug 2019 161,000 :eek::eek:Nov 2019 156,500:T Jan 2020 153,122:T, Apr 2020 149,500, Apr2021 139, 675, Oct 2021 136,823, Dec 2021 136,120๐EF 0/12,000 (0%)๐ (5062.44 was ERC), Jan 2023 128,650. Thanks beanie and longway! You're entirely right - I'm glad that I've got out while I'm ahead and I can't imagine that it's going to be too difficult to find an alternative option, there are quite a few people locally who do flat roofs and plenty of labourers who can do the groundwork in the autumn ๐ย
Best day for a long time today - dd popped over with my grandbaby!!! ๐๐๐ It was totally fabulous to see him - he's grown so much and his language skills have really advanced ๐ he'll be back at the weekend but I'm glad he had a short visit to start with - he was pretty overwhelmed at times, checking out that all his toys were still here, wanting to investigate everything etc- so I think that this visit was more of a reassurance for him than a relaxing time. He had lots of fun though - did a painting, played with every toy he has here, laid in his bed, checked out every room, checked out his treat box etc - total whirlwind and absolutely fabulous!!! ๐๐ In all honesty, I'm exhausted now ๐๐๐ย

Must be lovely to see your grand baby. I can appreciate how they feel overwhelmed as my 2 have just started seeing my mum again (they are 1 and 4).ยMortgage Aug 2019 161,000 :eek::eek::eek:Nov 2019 156,500:T Jan 2020 153,122:T, Apr 2020 149,500, Apr2021 139, 675, Oct 2021 136,823, Dec 2021 136,120๐EF 0/12,000 (0%)๐ (5062.44 was ERC), Jan 2023 128,650.
