I just spent a wee while reading the 2007 link about papier-mâch! money boxes, and bowls.
I might be off to find a balloon or two tomorrow.
I have yet to do a new budget, but I will be looking at how I have managed to increase my spending so much over the last year or so.
If I want any drastic changes I will probably set myself up to fail as my willpower is not what it was.
I am going to back track through the various threads and see what changes I can implement as I grasp the Frugal ways again.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

    Evening all,

Lovely to read what everyone has been up to.
    We've had a nice day.
I had coffee in costalots with a friend but it was a no spend one as it was gift vouchers from December. I also got there earlier then my friend so had been and bought my pot of tea. This saved money as my friend was going to get something to eat and if I'd not been already sat down I might have been swayed!
Had brunch with my parents, also called into coop on the way back to the car to get food for packed lunches as everyone is back to school/work tomorrow.
Also went to the library to pick up a book I'd reserved, returned a couple and dh/ds1 took another couple of items out too. I love our libraries, they've saved us a fortune over the last few years!
So not a nsd day today as but planned food spends. We took eggs/bread that we already had in to my parents as our contribution for brunch & we've finished the last of the hm leek/potato soup and fruit cake tonight.
I've just deactivated an old amzn kindle and I'm going to see how much I can sell it to cex next whilst dh & ds's are engrossed in Dr Who.
I think thats a pretty frugal day.
    nsds for the year.... 4/366

    Hi everyone
Well I was going food shopping today but didn't get around to it so may leave it new until Tuesday/Wed, or I may just see how long I can go for!!!!
I have been having a bit of a sort out and have a bit more for the CS depot. I don't think I have much, but you can always seem to find something!
Foodwise, my dd1 came up with a curry portion my sil made last night so I have had that for dinner tonight and very nice it was too.
Busy reading and knitting today as well, I want to get a couple of baby things finished before I carry on with anything else, then get a couple of more bits finished before I start anything new, I seem to have quite a few projects on the go and still have a couple of summer dresses that I cut out last year and then put by! so that's another goal I think for the next few months, get things finished!!!
So just going to have a quick look at the boards and then start knitting again

Finally Solvent, you needed something to eat and drink, and you shouldn't beat yourself up about it. Hope the results of your scan are favourable. ((Hugs))
  • count me in. Hoping to be much more intentional with my money this year.
biggest issue is trying to resist online purchases that are on "discount" but i don actually need.
  • Trimmed both DS hair, so that’s saved in hairdresser. DS6 now looks a bit like he has a mullet, so hoping that he will be seen as a fashion trail blazer.

Used some Xmas money to pay for 2x birthday presents for party today.

Used Debenhams voucher for new school shoes for DS6.

Done new budget for month, meal plans and using up freezer food. Did a whole chicken in instant pot today and have loads meat left for soup/meals, as well as large portion gravy frozen and spare mash for this week.

Finding this addictive. This week will be tough in terms of money out as personal tax due for me and DH and Corp Tax for business, so need to be super focused when back to work tomorrow.

Ooh, also cancelled Now TV sports, kids and movies!
  • Been reading through the posts, awesome stuff folks ! Fell off the wagon a little as spent on tea and cake after a long walk on Friday ! But went out last night and avoided alcohol so didn't end up buying rubbish food on the way home plus felt OK this morning ! Win win.
Tomorrow is meal planning, probably a very controlled shop (!) and general Monday chores. Need to get polytunnel sorted and seeds planted.
Did someone mention a grocery challenge ? Always need extra challenges to keep me sharp and focused. Really determined to stick at this this year, so many things I want to do so the finances need to be there......
    Xx

Still only one spend day so far for me. Yesterday I cut DHs hair and gave him a pedicure. Still going to get mine done professionally though. My haircut will be a dry cut from now on saving £10 each time.
Spend less now, work less later.

    Thank you xxx

Just to add, our drive home from the hospital is a further hour after the expected hour I knew I'd have to wait until DH was able to pick me up. If we only lived a few minutes away I'd have waited to eat when I got home. I've got over the annoyance and shock of opening my purse now:rotfl:. The lady on the till asked me if I wanted a loyalty card (the 10th hot drink is free):rotfl:. If I have to go there again I'll make sure I go well prepared with my own food and drinks;)
  • Oh bless you - sometimes life/timing isn't on our side. Sending group hugs xx
