Todays been another good day frugal wise.
I've made leek and potato soup which we've had for lunch. I've also put a beef stew into cook in the slow cooker for tonights meal to use up other veggies we had in.
We went for a walk to the post office to send an item off to mus1cmagp1e, they supply the label for postage so another no spend day.
My dad came to give dh's hair a cut, I paid him with leek and potato soup to take home for him and my mum
Making a determined effort not only to not buy anything not "needed" but also to use what we actually have in. I'm good at using up food but I'm making an effort to use make up/cleaning products we have before trying anything else.
Thats about it for today.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

I returned some trousers i brought in the sale today (the only thing i had brought). I didn't really need them and they were a bit tight around the tummy. £9.50 back in my pocket. Ive managed to sell a few things through local selling sites. Pleased with myself for keeping on task with everything. Im using my spare time to go through the forums and find challenges and advice from previous years etc. It's keeping me motivated.Declutter 2020 - 267/2020 :j

Straight back into the frugal living challenge for 2020, so lets get back on track with costcutting and moneysaving. Hope everyone is doing ok and get well soon to our cold and flu stricken friends. GOOD LUCK TO ALL with new year resolutions, plots and plans. Don't forget it's a leap year so we have to budget in an extra day to keep household accounts balanced.Finally_Solvent wrote: »Frugaldom, I'm very interested in the Ration Challenge that you did. Is it some sort of 'official' challenge or just something you did with people you know? It sounds too stringent for us (DH could eat for Britain:rotfl:) but there might be something I could take from it without actually committing to it 100%...
https://www.rationchallenge.org is an official fundraising challenge where we are sponsored to live on refugee rations. It is not easy but each tier of funds you raise affords you a luxury item to add to your basic food list. It is an exreme challenge and many of our group complweted it despite doing physical/manual work and/or having special dietary requirements by swapping some of the ingredients to something more suitable. (I ended the week with half my rice ration unused.)I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi fruguys and gals, hope everyone has had a good time over the festive season and are all set for the year ahead, saving and chasing debt freedom.
Welcome to all our newcomers, feel free to message any questions as I often don't have enough free time to keep up with all the comments as they go on here.
No spending here yet but we are in a rural location and only have the local village store a few miles away for emergencies. No local supermarket but we do have the luxury of home delivery from one of the big supermarkets, despite said big supermarket not having a store anywhere near us.
January is a use it up month so I shouldn't need to buy much apart from milk. There is enough chocolate in the household to last a month after Christmas so the February frugal fitness mini-challenge is looking like it will go ahead as usual.I reserve the right not to spend.

Reorganising my kitchen - nothing fits or works properly.
Roasting a half price piece of pork and making a meal plan for next week:)1 -
I forgot to post this link for whoever asked about FREE SPREADSHEET PROGRAMME
I use Open Office, which has word processing, spreadsheets, etc. I've had no problems with it and have been using it for many years, just updating it now and again. Hope this helps

Thanks very much for the explanation and link:T. I'll go over there and have a good read when I get a bit of uninterrupted time. Congratulations to you for completing it:beer:
EDIT: Just tried the link but it doesn't seem to take me to anywhere relevant:eek:. Might be just me being dense:o so I'll try again later and have a good explore of the site.1 -
Had my first no spend day yesterday however I have had to spend a little bit more today as I have been looking after my niece so I will have to account for this in the monthly budget. Apart from that I am trawling through my room to find stuff so I can declutter on Ebay

Hi everyone
Not been doing much, been on grandma duties for a couple of days but that's about all. Was going to go the shops today for fruit and veg but didn't, so will have to go tomorrow.
Went to the big town on the bus, took ages but felt better for not taking the car!!!! and the walk did me good. I even took a flask of coffee with me so no coffee shop for me, and then I found I had a free coffee on a card so I will use that next time!!! I have been to the library and they updated my card so I can use it again and took out some books to read and then went to the bank to put money in!!!!!!!
Meals have come out of stores and Ive been sorting stuff out to take to the CS depot. I will go to the lottie this week and pick a couple of leeks and chard and hopefully take stock of what needs doing.
Still knitting and sorting out my sewing projects so they will keep me busy in 2020 hopefully I can get more done this year.
Budgets done but I think they will need refining a bit more, but I can do that as I go along.
Right off to browse through the boards.

Continuing to make most meals from scratch at home and keep spending down. Just a couple of things bought for the house over the last two days.
Income fluctuating a bit at the minute so leaving budgeting for this year for a couple of weeks until things settle down. Until then just trying to find the middle ground of being sensible but enjoying the small amount I do spend on the guilty things (handbags, high heels, chocolate - the list goes on. And on and on!!).
Item on eBay over £10 now - hoping it gets pushed up a bit more before the auction ends.1
