  • Wow, those are some hefty boys! :rotfl: Mine is 2.5kg (she's a wee runt though) - I'd definitely struggle with carrying one of yours in a carrier, let alone 10kg of mildly vexed feline :p

Have a good evening, you're doing really well :)

5kg each? That's a bit of weight training for you :D (I have a chunky one too!)

You are sounding happier in your posts :)

  • I love your thread title! Sounds like you’ve been through a huge amount and have a lot on your plate (and a lot of changes). I’m glad you’ve got the cats to help you through it, I don’t know what I’d do without my kitties.

Mine are 11kg between them (though that’s between a huge boy cat over 6kg and a smaller girl) so I’ve done the solo wrestle of both of them to the vets for their boosters a few times (I’m being too frugal for it now, but I’ve been known to rope a friend in with the promise of being brought brunch afterwards :D)

Love the plan for the evening too, sounds perfect!

Thank you for all your messages, yes I do feel happier, certainly lighter without dealing with someone else's crap all day (just my own instead lol), and the cats have definitely kept me sane. They may be annoying at times (especially with the Xmas tree, my God, even when they can't climb it they like to be extra annoying by boxing with the decorations) but I do love them when they're in soppy mode.

Took the chonkies to the vet, and.....drumroll.....they weigh 6.4kg and 6.7kg!!!! The lighter one is a lot smaller than the bigger one, so the vet said although she isn't calling him fat, I need to watch his food as he does have a pouchy stomach :rotfl:But their boosters are done so that's one thing off the list.

Last night I had a bit of a migraine, but I still managed to get the tree up (need to redo it though as I lost the battle with the lights, so a lot of them are on the floor and it looks rubbish:o).

Got home from the vets (and a free McD thanks to my mum), to find my washing machine has broken. Flashing lights, seems to be the pump. So I phoned hotpoint and I've gone for a 6 month warranty for £20 a month which covers me for this repair and for the next 6 months in case anything else goes wrong. I might not be here at that point (although I probably will), but I have the money already as it's from the flat fund, and otherwise it was going to cost £145 as a one-off fee. I already need to replace the oven before I leave here, and I didn't want to be in a position where I have to replace the washer/dryer as well. That reminds me, I need to get onto the sales to see if I can get an oven at a good price (also from the flat fund). The engineer is coming on Thursday, good job I had this week booked off! The towels that are in there are going to be disgusting by Thursday aren't they

I had a bit of a spend today, although not too bad - £11 in B&M for some decaf coffee, drain unblocker, cat food and some throat sweets for my mum (she's got the lurgy which I better not get!!). Also had a bit of a result with NowTV - I cancelled my movie package ages ago, and I cancelled the TV package when my ex moved out. I was on my Vodafone app, and they had deals for the Movie and TV package for £2 each for 2 months, so I've snapped that up as seeing as I'll be at home a lot now to save money it'll be good to have distractions. I'll cancel them when they're done, unless I can get another deal.

Feel exhausted now! Was meant to be going shopping tomorrow for Xmas presents but not sure whether to just chill instead. I'll see how the mood takes me :A hope everyone has a good evening!

  • Evening!

Been quite a lazy day today, went to Aldi earlier and spent £15, although some of that was on food for my mum as she's not well enough to go to the shop. That's my weekly shop done.

I went through our spare room (which is basically the dumping ground of the flat) and found some stuff out that I can sell/pass on. So I've got some of that stuff, and some clothes I no longer wear, on ebay to try and get some extra money to add to the credit card balance.

I think I'll try and redo the tree today (got some shorter lights courtesy of my mum), and put the lights in the window as I think they look so pretty :D

Didn't do my run today but I've been having niggling knee issues so not going to worry about that.

Tomorrow should be a good day as I'm going into the city to meet a couple of friends for lunch (on their work break). Hoping to get at least some of my Xmas done on Oxford Street, and enjoy the festive cheer (or bustling crowds lol).

    That's it from me :)

    Evening, just checking in!

Today was a good day, did yoga in the morning and then sorted out the boys' litter tray (the one major downside of house cats lol), and then went into the city for lunch with the girls which was really nice. Spent £19 at the restaurant, and the travel will be £7/8 (not shown on my monzo yet). I then went to Covent Garden, and bought my mum her xmas present (won't say in case she were to read here but pretty sure she'll be happy with it, it was a bargain too!) Also got my brother a small gift, and myself a nice top with a gift card, although had to pay £4, but I'm really pleased with it as I think it will take me through any xmas outings, and any outings in the new year. I still need to buy for my brother and his partner, though I'm hoping I can get that done online tomorrow as I have some ideas now. I still have £139 in the xmas fund, so I'm hoping I'll get at least £50 left over once I've bought for them as everyone else is done. Now to ponder whether it should go to credit card, savings, or general spending to enjoy during the festive season  maybe all 3!

I sold two items last night:eek: so I've packaged those up and will send them off tomorrow once I know what time the engineer is coming for the washing machine. I won't spend anything tomorrow apart from the postage, but I've made around a tenner as long as the deliveries go ok. Once they've been delivered safely that money can go to the credit card.

Dinner was a baked potato with leftover tuna mayo from Monday. Got chicken korma out the freezer to defrost for tomorrow's dinner.

Now going to kill time before the Apprentice. Good night everyone :A

  • Afternoon,

Having a bit of a flat day today. My medical conditon has flared up bad today so I'm in a lot of pain. I'm also very tired - I didn't sleep very well Tuesday night, and Wednesday was quite busy, so today I've paid for it (especially as I had to get up at 7:30am to be up for the washing machine guy, but of course he didn't come until 11!) Just been dozing all day and can't stop thinking about how hurt I am about the way ex has treated me. I suppose it's not surprising as it's only been just over a month since he left, but it feels like a step backwards when I have days/thoughts like this. I'm trying to be kind to myself but it's hard :(

On the bright side, the washing machine is fixed - it was a colour catcher which had blocked the pipe. I didn't even know they could do that, so that's handy to know going forward! It only took him 10 or so minutes, cat1 was all up in his stuff knocking tools over, and getting in the guy's face :rotfl: cat2 hid in the wardrobe :rotfl:

I posted the two ebay parcels off, so I should have around £12ish for the credit card once I know they're received. The £25 minimum came out of my account today, so that's come off my total. I'm also close to hitting the £20 I have in my monzo account (every spend I make gets rounded up and put into this pot, then when I get to £20 I pay it off the card), so once I hit that in the next couple of days that'll be £20 extra off the card.

I'm going to try to write my xmas cards tonight but other than that take it easy. I have a busy night tomorrow with my work xmas do, I missed the last dinner due to illness so I don't want to have to miss this one too (plus it's a dinner I don't have to pay for lol.) I'm also getting my hair cut tomorrow, I've booked with a different salon to usual as you can get it 50% off as a new customer on week days, and I desperately need a couple of inches coming off. It's half my usual cost so worth it hopefully!

  • Hi all, just a quick one -

I've been looking through the joint account (not sure why but I didn't check it monthly, I just assumed the DD were coming out :o), anyway, it turns out I've/we've been overpaying the TV licence by £17 per month. When we first moved in it was £30, but it's obviously dropped down to £13.20 since then but I've never made the change in my spreadsheet (as I didn't notice!) So I have a buffer in there for the TV licence, so I'm going to let myself off paying that until Feb, when I'll start back up again with the proper price! That gives me a bit more to play with the next couple of months.

Had the worst sleep - took painkillers which I think have helped, but Cat1 has been singing the song of his people since 6:30am, when he does a poo he does this, usually during the day. Dunno if he has a bad tummy or what but it's very annoying as I needed the sleep :( Never mind, I still love him even if he is a bit weird!

Going to get my hair cut soon, although the weather is truly miserable so not even sure it's worth getting it properly blow dried. I would walk into town usually as I'm not far, but I might drive in and park to try and save my 'do! Thinking it should be around £25 which I have in a pot, but it might be slightly more as I have long hair. I will update later!

  • Back from the hairdressers!

Walked there and back so no parking spend - drizzled on the way there but was dry on the way back :D Cost me £24.50. I've booked again for 3 months time, with 25% off, but if I find somewhere cheaper nearer the time I'll just cancel the appointment.

I spent £5 in Sainsburys on the way home, on red lentils, chicken for lunches for the next 3 days plus flipz choclolate pretzels which were £1 and I couldn't resist :p

I'm not sure what to do about tonight, as I have my xmas do in a town near me but not close enough to walk or get one bus. It's either 2 buses there, and then either 2 back or an uber, or I can drive there and park for free but means I can't drink. I'm thinking I should do the latter as with my pain I probably shouldn't risk it getting worse, but on the other hand I like a drink and I've been looking forward to this for a while. Hmm. Will ponder for the rest of the day.

Will have lunch in a bit and then put gel polish on my nails. Then I want to try and write all my xmas cards, which I was meant to do yesterday but didn't feel well :( Oh well!

In other news, ex replied to my email and he's backed down and agreed to my timescale, which is good, makes me feel a bit better at least.

  • Chronic illnesses always flare up at the worst possible times, don’t they? What have you decided about tonight?

Glad the weather gods were smiling on you for the walk home from hairdressers!
