Good luck resisting the wine, and happy new year!

Thanks astrocytic, your luck didn't work with the wine
Happy New Year to you!
Spent £22.57 in Aldi, which is more than I wanted (plus wine...) but I picked up some bits I wasn't planning to which make up other recipies I've been wanting to try. I have SO much food in my freezer and cupboard now, I think I might challenge myself next week to spend around a tenner (as I can't starve my 2 hungry hippos!) I do need to buy celery and stuffing though, will do that tomorrow (maybe).
Put the cleaning stuff in the washer and the dishwasher as per Mr Washing Machine man back in early December, don't want the hassle of them breaking (again).
Dinner is on the hob, Mexican rice, which will do me for tonight and tomorrow.

Won an auction on ebay for a brand name silk shirt for £6 including p&p - got it very cheap! I'm trying to get some going out bits that aren't black, as everything I have at the moment is black ::o Was wiling to spend up to £6 plus p&p so happy with that.
My goal for 2020 is to try and buy all my clothing second hand (excluding shoes and underwear), so either ebay or charity shops mainly. This is for a few reasons, partly cost, but also because of the environmental impact of fast fashion, and to just try and consume less. I don't have any big occasions like last year (I had 3 weddings and a hen do in 2019) so I'm hoping I can get by on what I already have, plus anything I can get second hand. I don't want to accumulate stuff when I'll have to move it all in the nearish future. I'm keeping a log of what I buy as I did this before and it definitely made me think about what I bought.
A couple of months early but I've checked what my insurance will be when I have to renew, and it looks like it will be around £30 cheaper than I've allocated for (I'm currently putting away £46 per month based on what it was last year). I think it is due in March/April but I'll have to double check.
ETA: didn't specify but I meant car insurance!
My car is booked for its MOT, it's a friend of my step-dad's so he's going to deal with it for me (not pay for it though!)Nov 19 CC was: £1334.95 Now: £0!! 1% challenge - 100% Savings:£300.83February take lunch to work: 19/18

I love the clothing goal, and also keeping a list of purchases - I’ve done that a couple of times to put the brakes on spending spirals, but having one for the year is an excellent idea.
Great news of the auction too, what a bargain!Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

Thanks astrocytic kitten, I list my makeup/skin care as well as I love both so I try to keep it down by listing what I have, and it's also useful to see how much something lasts me.
Just a quick check-in as today has been fairly low-key:
It's the first Saturday in months where I've had nothing to get up for, so I kept snoozing my alarm and got up at 10am, felt gloriousI did the boys' litter tray, the rubbish, and got rid of 5 items out of each of the rooms I spend time in in the flat (ie not the spare room). I'm going to try to do this once a week in January to try and make sure what I have is necessary.
I then did yoga, made up soup for lunches (in the slow cooker now), cleaned and made dinner. It was a vegan recipe, mushroom pasta with coconut milk, it's nice but it's missing a kick, have another portion for tomorrow and will tweak it when I make it again. Froze the rest of the coconut milk as I didn't use it all tonight. Also cut and froze the veggies for my next round of lentil bolognese which I will make up next week.
I bought a protein shaker for £4 which will come tomorrow. My ex left loads of protein powder here, and I'm sure if he really wanted it he would've taken it when he's been round (which has been a few times). So, in the spirit of not wasting, and as it goes out in April this year, I'm going to use it myself so I can ensure I get enough protein while not buying meat. If I get hench though I'll let you know:eek::rotfl:
I watched Don't f*** with cats on Netflix yesterday, so sadThe things people will do for notoriety, and the cat parts themselves were heart wrenching, especially for someone with cats. Cat2 sat there and watched it with me though, he literally looks up at the screen like he knows what's going on! Now watching 60 days in, I'm a bit fascinated with prisons etc so entertaining watching. Plus not going out saves me money :rotfl::rotfl:

Hello everyone, a couple of things to update:
Yesterday was v chill, did a 6.5 mile run and was happy with my time, then hoovered and mopped the flat, and did my washing. Nothing spent!
The DD came out for my CC today. I've started the 1% challenge, and 1% for me is £14. The DD is £25, so I added £4 from my spending account (£3 to bring it up to 2%, and £1 for the interest that will go on on the 10th). A book I reserved at the library has arrived, so I'll go and collect that on my lunch break. It's called "Feel the fear and do it anyway", I saw it mentioned in another thread so will be interested to read that. Also need to buy some bio wash and disinfectant. I had a bid on an ebay item yesterday, think the auction finishes today.
I want to get up to 16% by the end of this month (currently at 14%), and would love to get my savings up to £500 (current at £473). Not the end of the world if I don't do it, but it's a goal.Nov 19 CC was: £1334.95 Now: £0!! 1% challenge - 100% Savings:£300.83February take lunch to work: 19/18

Forgot, I need to find £25 as there's a half marathon I want to do in June, exactly 3 months after the one in March. Will have a ponder where to get that money fromNov 19 CC was: £1334.95 Now: £0!! 1% challenge - 100% Savings:£300.83February take lunch to work: 19/18

Got some spends to report -
My smol payment came out, so that's £3.85. I went and picked up my library book, and then went to Home Bargains. They had barely anything on the shelves, so couldn't get my bio wash. Got disinfectant, magnesium flakes, cotton buds and some jaffa cakes for workThat was £6.96.
Had chicken fajitas for dinner from the freezer. I feel knackered today, couldn't sleep last night so even though I had amazing sleeps over the weekend I feel sick with tiredness.
I think I'm being a bit crazy, but I applied for a retail weekend job today....I probably won't even get an interview, but I just worry that I'm not going to make the headway I need on my current salary, the only place I can really make room is my food budget and I don't want to starve myself! I would have to consider it properly anyway as my condition can get worse when I'm run down.....food for thoughtNov 19 CC was: £1334.95 Now: £0!! 1% challenge - 100% Savings:£300.83February take lunch to work: 19/18

Such a weird day. Received email from my ex, frustrating and he's playing the victim yet again. Went for a walk at lunch to read it, then decided to get a hot choc (naughty) so that's £1.49 spent.
The weird part - I put a video of cat1 up on Insta on Sunday, and for some reason it got hundreds of likes. I put it up on Reddit, and it completely blew up. I've been contacted by one site who want to feature it, and a licensing company who want to represent me/the video!! Like actually !!!!!! lol. I could actually earn money from the video, crazy. I've told cat1 he's famous but he's not to let it get to his head!! The boys have their own insta so if anyone is interested in seeing the video please PM me I'd love to shareNov 19 CC was: £1334.95 Now: £0!! 1% challenge - 100% Savings:£300.83February take lunch to work: 19/18

hi starting over at 29. Love following your thread. Replies may be sparse at times but keep at it as i'll be reading (though may not always find time to reply) & i'm sure others are too.
Sorry to hear about your ex walking out forcing you to sell up etc that sucks. I'll refrain from posting any cliche's about how "he's doing you a favour" as i hate when people say them to me, but from your posts you sound like a fab person0
