  • astrocytic the good riddance fund, I love it! I'm stealing that :D It is incredible (in a bad way), I've always known he's like it to a certain extent but it's been magnified now.
You can't freeze all cheese, but you certainly can with cheddar which is what I have. When it's grated you can break a bit off and use it, I pulled some out this morning for my lunch today. I didn't know it was a thing until I lost a big bit of cheese as it went soggy in the fridge (I don't use it as much as my ex did) and my mum told me to freeze it.
I think I have one of those treat balls so I'll have to pull it out. I did laugh when you talked about them getting on the counter, like little kids racing back to their places when mum comes in the room :rotfl:

  • So yesterday didn't go to plan. My pain had been flaring up since the morning, and then by the time I'd posted my last update I came down with a migraine. I couldn't bear to stand up and cook, so I grabbed a tin of ravioli out of the cupboard and took it very easy. My migraine's gone, I still have a lot of pain and didn't want to come into work but I don't get sick pay, and tbf it's not bad enough for me to sit at home. I'll cook tonight instead, and do some relaxing yoga.

  • I forgot a couple of things:
    1) I hit £5 on PA so I withdrew £5.05 and have added it to the CC pot - once I hit £14 again which is 1% I'll send that to the CC
    2) I had my follow up call with the Doctor today, he said my blood test results were all normal except my calcium is borderline low, so I'm going to look into getting some supplements. I've found some on Amazon which are £18 for calcium, magnesium and zinc for a 6 month's supply, but I have a big day/night out coming up on Saturday so don't want to spend that money until after. Anxiety-wise I told him it's still bad in the mornings, and sometimes at work, so I'm going to keep taking one table a day until I use up what I have, and then he said to go and see him again to decide next steps.

  • Sounds like a miserable time, taking it easy yesterday was definitely the right move - I hope the pain is easing.

Thanks for the cheese news. I’m planning to batch cook and freeze some macaroni cheese this week for some comfort ready meals, will try grating and freezing extra cheese when I do that.

  • re freezing cheese, i found that freezing whole blocks is possible but that the cheese breaks quite easily one its then taken out & defrosted, which is find for eating in chunks but less so for grating.
never thought to grate then freeze

I didn't think I'd be imparting cheese knowledge but I'm glad to be of use :rotfl:

I felt a bit better last night pain-wise, did some hip opening yoga and then made my curry. Cut up all my remaining veg while I was at it and froze it for a later meal. My mum came and took some of the clothes for my brother, he likes a lot of it but I still have a fair few things I can sell. Will try and get them up on ebay at some point this week.

Didn't spend yesterday, I will spend today though as I've decided to get lunch out, didn't fancy my baked potato :rotfl:

Will try and get a 4 mile run done tonight, can't believe how cold it is!

  • Morning everyone! Checking in before what looks like another busy day at work.

Spent £3.25 on my lunch (was delicious :p) and then went home and did my 4 mile run. Then had my second portion of the curry, and then chilled.

Today I will need to go to Aldi after work, my dad gave me a little bit of money on the weekend towards food, so I'm going to get a few more bits than usual so next week's spend will be as low as possible. I need to clean the flat when I get back as I'm hosting the monthly book club tomorrow. I won't really need anything, I'm going to get some crisps in Aldi but I've got some vodka and mixer already in the flat so won't be buying a bottle of wine like I usually would. We will get a takeaway as that's what we usually do, normally costs me a tenner.

I put a hold on some books in the library, and one has come through - the joy of being ordinary. So I'll go get that on my lunch at some point, I've still got the bookclub book to finish, I do it right to the last minute because I read so much otherwise I forget details :rotfl:

  • Evening everyone!

Completely forgot when I did my update this morning that I had my eyebrows appointment at lunchtime. It was £20 today as she takes £5 off as an xmas gift, but she is upping her prices to £30 from next month (tbf I've paid the same price for around 4 years), it's definitely worth the money and it's the only beauty thing I get done regularly (other than haircuts). That had been accounted for in my beauty fund anyway.

I spent £3 in Home Bargains on some indigestion tablets (I've had the WORST indigestion since yesterday, no idea what's wrong with me) and some naught dark chocolate digestives  terrible, I had 4 at my desk, it's dangerous :rotfl:

I tried to take my meter reading for the electricity company, but I can't get the door open. My ex used to always do it, and I know he had trouble with the lock as well. I might see if I can ask my kind neighbour at some point to help.

I went to Aldi, and spent £22 (I actually spent £12 as I had a tenner from my dad), and got loads of food for it. Completely by-passed the wine bit so wasn't tempted!

I've downloaded Zipzero as I'd seen it mentioned on forums, got 37p pending on there already, hoping it can knock off my phone bill every couple of months (that's £18). Not sure how long it will take to build up though, we'll see!

I'm almost up to my next 1% in my monzo round-up pot, £1.01 away! Would like to get up to 16% (from 14%) before the end of the month but I think that's being ambitious, as I still have my day/night out to come on Saturday.

I've had a pepper and chorizo omelette for dinner, cleaned and hoovered the flat for bookclub tomorrow, and now I just need to finish the book! It's Three Women by Lisa Taddeo, a bit raw for me at the moment as it's about relationships (and the s-word ) but it's a good read.

Hope everyone's having a good evening!

  • still here & still tuning in.
hope your book club went well tonight & the takeout was good, now i'm craving take out.
It sounds like a nice little social thing. how did you get into that? I really need to broaden my social circle but find it quite difficult at my age

Hi little_green, thanks for sticking with me! It is really difficult finding new people to socialise with. I started this book club with the girls from my ex's circle, because we realised we all love reading! Been doing it around 7/8 months now. I wonder if you have any local book clubs in libraries? I struggle a bit as my best friends don't live round here anymore. I have debated joining a local running group, but running for me has always been a solo activity.

So book club was good, didn't get to bed until midnight :rotfl: We had takeaway from the sushi place I like, I paid and they all paid me back so I spent just over £6 in total. I now have hundreds of those plastic boxes for leftovers/meal portions. They also left loads of snacks so that's a plus! :P One of the girls doesn't like cats, but when she saw my two she couldn't get over them (cat1 in particular is very striking, often people say he looks like a cartoon). Cat2 was in her bag all night, she gave them treats and now she likes cats :rotfl: We talked about going to Bath at some point in March/April, it's something we've talked about previously and one of the girls is from there so can show us all the good sights. Thinking about how to fund that. It's my turn to pick the book so will have fun deciding that.

Ex was meant to be coming round today to paint, but he's emailed this morning to say he's got a work emergency so can't do it. But he's going to come over at lunch to look at the meter for me as he got a notification to say the reading was due (the account is in his name). He wants to do weekends to decorate from now on, I told him Saturdays would be ok but to give me notice so I can be out the flat all day. Considering he was gung-ho on the flat being on the market by 1st Feb I think I can safely say that isn't happening!

Today should be a NSD, just working and then will go home, run (hopefully) and I desperately need to redo my nails. Tomorrow I've got my monthly hospital appointment, and then my friend's 30th in London. It's my uni circle that are going and that I don't get to see them very often, so looking forward to it. It's a late lunch and then drinks, I will try and head off early-ish as I've got a long run to do on Sunday!

I think that's it for now, so if I don't post again today, Happy Friday!
