took me ages to find it..why didnt they say "jacks awsome wonder with gsoh and handy with a wrench becomes debt free..."

:D:D:D :T :T :T Yeah! That would have been much better! :D (and would also probably work as my lonely hearts advert as well if Hubby should ever need replacing. :rotfl: )

    That's brilliant, that is! :D

Hi Jacks - I've just spent the last 2 hours reading throught the whole thread and it's been a really uplifting experience. Well done you!!

Pleeeaaaase, though, can I ask what your M&S hamper was like? Did you get some really gorgeous goodies in there?;)

You will be a real inspiration to the 100s of people who will also read this thread.

    NicNocs

Cheers for the kind words cherub. I am thrilled to be able to help anybody on here in any way I can.

Ooh.... Do you know what? Actually the hamper was brilliant! :D

It came all packed up in a huge real leather cube shaped box with a lid. (which is now in the dinng room filled with eBay packing materials) It had loads of useful stuff in it- a some joints of meat, some huge slabs of cheese, some bickies and sweets, wine and champagne, oatcakes a christmas pud, a christmas cake... Plenty for us to have a fab Christmas and made some pressies for other people as well. Definitely the best thing I have ever won!

 I'm really glad hon. Thanks for the kind words. How was the carboot? (I hope it didn't rain. and you made plenty of dosh. )

I have just discovered this thread & enjoyed reading it all - maybe I should be more ambitious in my mfw date.

 I'm glad you enjoyed it sweetie pie! I had a chuckle myself as I was reading through it all again. :D

I'm all in favour of pushing yourself that little bit more, but what I found worked for me was having busy, "nose to the grindstone kicking the @r$e out of the debts bigstyle" times interspersed with more relaxed "smell the roses" times when I dialled it all back a little bit and tried to think about something else for a change!

A mix of small short term targets and bigger longer term ones helped as well.

    Go for it hon!

Am loving all the replies of congratulations to you, they are truly deserved. have signed up to the 20K challenge which should be interesting and have been attempting NSD but not taking my cards with me when I got out its been truly enlightening and empowering to go without just spending for spending sake. so far march has been good the increased s/o seem to be working well and my mum is holding onto my cc's so I am not tempted to spend when I see that the balance is going down. You are right I am looking at the tiny light and keeping my eye on the prize. anyhow should get back to work and actually do some

    take care

misselvis proud to be dealing with my debts:D

I am loving all the congratulations too honey! :D

I'm so glad it's all going well for you. Just keep at it and you'll get there.

The £20k challenge is brilliant. They are a lovely bunch of people, and the frequency of posts helps keep you on target I found. Someone else posting to say that they've paid something off a debt reminds you that you should be doing something similar!

Just allow yourself a little treat now and then just to keep your pecker up and enjoy your success. Celebrating the milestones of getting rid of another £1000 or getting under a certain amount is important too cos it re-energisies you to carry on. (I might have said that already on here. :o I say it a lot!)

    Keep posting my lovely!

    Hiya my lovely!

It's a bit of a shocker but I think I might nearly be up to date with posts on my own thread! :o:D

I missed Heston this time - was it the Victorian feast? - but I might catch him online. I do find his way of thinking interesting!

This is my chill time honey. I'm not working tonight, but I have got to get to grips with eBay after dinner cos I'm all behind. (I'm sure Hubby and or DD can be "persuaded" to wash up. :D ) Maybe if I burn an expensive candle while I'm eBay listing it'll be more fun??? ;):D :rotfl:

Egg and MBNA are sodding so and sos aren't they? My head knows that all financial institutions are run by the same sorts of people and so really they're all the same - but you do hear a lot of negative experiences of MBNA and Egg. How long until you think you can be shot of them my sweet?

Give the moggie a squeeze from me. Ours is trying to sit on my keyboard as we speak.

just stumbled upon this thread and wanted to congratulate you!that is a MAMMOTH amount that you have paid back in a short space of time, you should feel very proud :D

    Thanks honey. :T

I know what you mean about the big numbers - and I am proud of what we've achieved - but part of me also beats myself up a little cos imagine how rich we'd be if we'd never been in that much debt and we'd been saving it instead?! :o:D:o

We just kept at it, and kept snowballing to make sure we stayed on track. (Whoever invented The Snowball should be [STRIKE]knighted [/STRIKE] sainted for inventing such a wonderfully educational and motivating tool.

I never really understood how debt works, and why it's so hard to get out of until I played with The Snowball.

Thanks ever so much for posting me a lovely message. :T
