Hi All,
Has anybody got tips for getting my "used to be" white trainers back to their orginal colour. If possible I would prefer not to have to put them in the washing machine!
Thanks

Hi clean them with a wet cloth to make sure no dirt. Then go to local shoe shop and buy white trainer polish you can get for a couple of pounds.0

And then put them in the washing machine!0

For general cleaning I use washing up liquid on an old nail-brush.
Squirt some W-U-L onto a wet nail brush and scrub the trainers, including the sides of the soles (even works really well with the foamy soles). Add a bit more water and keep scrubbing, then wipe off with an old cloth or kitcken roll.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
I thought you were not supposed to put trainers in the washing machine? I forget why now.
I use Jay-Jays method.
Or you could wear them to a foam party in a nightclub......... :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Haven't put my trainers in the machine before but might give it a go today as I'm home off sick and climbing the walls with boredom already! Any tips? What temperature should I use?0

Dad, bless him, was a shoe repairer and I learnt a hell of a lot from him.
It is because of the adhesive in the shoes, but mainly it is manufacturers telling you not to do it to cover their backs in case you do it and damage your shoes, i.e. it is 'at your own risk' Also some shoes use cardboard (yes shocking but true) to stiffen the heel backs, and you know what happens to card when it gets wet. Leather when wet is more of a problem, but my kids cheap synthetic trainers go in the washer then the drier, but i try not to do it too often.
If you have leather and wash it, then please DO NOT dry it in heat or even in an airing cupboard, but stuff the shoes with paper. Leather and canvas will shrink when washed, and both will stretch back to size on wearing/stretching with newspaper.
I have the trainer whitener stuff from savers and its less than a quid.
I try to avoid white trainers for messy dd who does cross country, but manufcturers seem to think all girls dress head to toe in pink and white and never go near any dirt!

I agree as a woman I don't like white trainers. The last pair I bought where but they where £5 from tescos so I know they will not last for every and I am Mrs Skint and needed some trainers.
I perfer black or dark colours but of don't some gyms or squash courts etc don't like black soled shoes or something like that.
I have never found a decent replace for some black woman trainers I had about 10 years ago.
