How long are people going to wait before the big uprising if Boris lied about this to get the landslide win he got?0

I predict the "30% discount" will be nothing like your expectations and will only apply to a small number of keyworkers.
I further predict there will be no "uprising" as most people simply voted for an end to Brexit uncertainty not to get a cheap house.Every generation blames the one before...

That's been my understanding for some considerable time. The discount also will remain for perpetuity. Therefore not a giveaway.0 -
How long can they delay until there is an uprising after all the manefesto was the reason Boris had such a strong win
Boris had a strong win because of brexit, he could take a crap on the heads of all the people who voted for him and he would still have won.
All he has to do is say things that keep people in their stupor. It's going to take a while before there is any serious analysis of his performance by the people who voted for him.
Don't expect him to call another election "that he doesn't want" until 5 years after the previous one, so you won't have the opportunity to do anything about it in any case.
More importantly, he knows all of this.0 -

What do you mean? This is not what was promised?
Either way as long as it really does come into fruition then the 30% discount will be available to local first time buyersThe thing about chaos is, it's fair.0 -
The 30% is too good to be true, there has be a lot of restrictions and rules attached to it if it did come into force. And like people have already said, if it doesn't get fulfilled, Boris won't be held too accountable to it.0

So would that mean that someone who does get one of these properties would have to sell it at 70% f market value, to another local first time buyer? That’s going to make it much harder for second steppers, isn’t it? And no, wages will not catch up with house price inflation for some time!
Boris was elected because he had a good sound bite and was more popular than Corbyn. That’s all. The promise to build “some” new houses for “some” local people won’t have been a major factor- if it was, Labour’s plans would have been more popular.0 -

Yes it is, it is exactly what was promised in the Tory manifesto.
"to discount homes in perpetuity by a third for local people who cannot otherwise afford to buy in their area. Councils could use this to prioritise key workers in their area"Bonniepurple wrote: »So would that mean that someone who does get one of these properties would have to sell it at 70% f market value, to another local first time buyer? Yes and yes. This is nothing like Right To Buy where you get a discount that you can profit from several years down the road; it's about getting those keyworkers who want to to be able to get on to the property ladder. As Thrugelmir said, it's not a giveaway, if you want a bigger, better property several years down the road then you have to better yourself and earn more money just like everyone else has to.Every generation blames the one before...

Prices are high because people were allowed to borrow too much, not because they "bettered" themselves in any way, in fact being 100`s of thousands in debt on a faltering illiquid asset is probably the opposite of "bettering" IMO.0 -
Boris Johnson also says homebuyers will be offered a 30% discount when buying new homes locally. This will be funded by developers, although he doesn’t explain how, given the thin margins most developers already operate on, this will be achieved.
Johnson says the discount would be locked in. This means the houses would, in effect, be permanently removed from the wider property market and only be available to people who live locally.
“These schemes have not been successful in the past because local people have used the discount and then sold them on so we will now entail the property so it has to be sold to someone from the same area,” he said.
