How long are people going to wait before the big uprising if Boris lied about this to get the landslide win he got?

I hate the term "better oneself". You can increase your potential to earn and still be an absolute !!!!!!!.

It's almost a requirement. Very few nice people earn lots of money, if you're sitting there with piles of cash thinking "surely I'm one of the exceptions".. nah, probably not.

    Woosh

That is the sound of the point going over your head.

I do count my blessings, I wouldn't want their lives. That doesn't stop them being !!!!!!.
More advice that if you do want their life, you have to be an !!!!!!.
  • To clarify. I dislike the phrase as I don't believe your wealth indicates how good you are as a person. If it did thnPrince Andrew is a better person than all of us here.

It is not an attack on the wealthy for being wealthy. Merely a dislike of the phrase.

    The pledge is:
"to discount homes in perpetuity by a third for local people who cannot otherwise afford to buy in their area. Councils could use this to prioritise key workers in their area"
The way I read it, a select number of (probably new build) homes will be discounted for local first time buyers. Possibly lower paid essential workers. Then, when they come to sell, they will only be able to sell to another eligible first time buyer - for market value less 30% discount.

That's what 'in perpetuity' means guys. Couldn't be clearer - so can't see where the assumption that first time buyers will be getting £Ks for 'free' has come from.

What’s a local anyway - a current renter, someone born there or whose parents live there.

What is the betting this policy is forgotten as it’s unworkable?

Suspect either/or - plus employed as a low(er) paid key worker. ie, junior nurse, firefighter, police officer.
  • I honestly don't know if it's a brilliant idea or an absolute empty promise that will end up an ineffective fudge. I suspect the latter but interested to see the details on how will be managed. Do you have a row new build houses for 200k where one is only available to key workers priced at 140k. Or are they all 200k and you get 60k off if you qualify? I believe the cost was to be borne by the builders....v interesting.

Put a convenant on the property. Akin to an agricultural or local resident restriction.

It was said you have to have lived in the district or borough for more than 15years with no breaks.

You can’t have somebody who just moved to London suddenly qualified to buy a £500K house for 30% discount and now can get it for £350K.

You also have to be a first time buyer which counts out all the greedy LLs.

The big question is how long do you have to wait until your allowed to put it back on the market and pocket the 30% profit?????
The thing about chaos is, it's fair.
