  • Morning all,

Thanks for mentioning that the forums will be down from 7.30 to 8.30 am donny-gal. I will make this very quick in that case.

W**k today again but as this will be overtime, it's all more money into the roofer's bill pot (if that makes sense!). I have been shocked by how much money I still have in my account since I started buying *only what I need* at the shops. I thought I was quite canny with my money but this has pulled me up short. So, I think I will continue with this even after the roofer has been paid.

((((hugs)))) to all who need/want one. Congrats to everyone with something to celebrate.

Got to wake up my two darling children - don't know what's wrong with them at the moment but put the two of them in a room together and WWIII breaks out. Let the fun begin.

    Have a tremendous Tuesday. xx

HESTER, WHATATWIT and REDRUBY - this construction lark is not much fun, is it? My DH usually looks for his own work, kitchen fitting, property refurbishment and so on, but that's really slow at the moment. This work he is doing now should last until Christmas, maybe longer but no-one can say for definite. If there's a recession, which they keep predicting, the construction industry is usually the first to suffer. It is my dearest wish that my DH would get a 'proper' job - working for an employer, going off with a nice clean briefcase every morning, and bringing a nice steady salary in but - he'd hate it! He's been self-employed for so long now, I think he'd find it hard but I long for something steady and reliable.

REDRUBY - apparently the people he worked for when he was in Littlehampton for a couple of weeks recently are always taking on. I'll pm you their number.

Well, I said I wouldn't come back on here until my chores were done but DONNY says the forums will be down for an hour from 7.30 so I thought I'd nip in quick.

    See you all later.

    Morning all,

Not much going off here, just sitting at my desk waiting for the work to start coming in :rotfl: Usually kicks off between 9 & 11 then has settled down to quieter than boring recently!! Finish at 4 then heading back to the flat, will have a quick swish round and do last nights washing up :o That's the worst thing about living by myself - whatever mess I leave I know there is no chance that it'll have gone when I get back!! (Not that exOH helped much anyway though!!). May also need to help exOH move the rest of his stuff from our old flat tonight so that I/we can go in and clean it tomorrow... I always thought I kept that place spotless but it's amazing how much filth there was lurking behind the furniture

Oh, and I need to make a dentist appointment as have spent the weekend high on painkillers and they were closed yesterday!!! I'm lucky enough to have an NHS dentist, but it means I probably won't get seen before my scheduled check-up on 29th April :rotfl:

Hope you all have a lovely day, :grouphug: to those who need, although we all seem to be a fairly cheery/optimistic bunch so far!!!! Hester, I keep meaning to say that I, like many others, am reading your blog avidly, although I haven't yet posted comment :)

Horrible damp and cold outside luckily Im in my office which is very toasty. Mind you I would rather be outside not doing paperwork.

Loads of paperwork to get through and phone calls which I hate doing as half the time I will be waiting for call backs and on hold - very frustrating. Have a massive tesco delivery coming at 10-12, loads of Xmas stuff, not much left to get foodwise so later this week will write a list and get it sorted.

More stuff hopefully will be put on ebay today, its fiddly and I dont do it enough to get 'au fait' with it but hoping to change that, aim is to be putting stuff on there each week.

Quick dinner tonight - egg and chips or soup and bread.

    Have a great day.

Morning. Ahhh almost finished these late late shifts. Midnight tonight and then 3 days off.
It's raining and not very pleasant out there. Kids are off school for 'academic review day' or somthing. Poor excuse for not teaching. I have to go in and talk to the teacher who will more than likely have no more idea on my individual child than any others. That's what I have found in the past anyway...

My e-bay sales are going well. I don't know if it's Christmas, but one item has surpassed the new price you have paid in the shops. (I got it sheap in the sale obviously) Why do people do it.....:D

Well folks have a nice day...

  • Morning all,

It's damp here as well so I think the washing will have to go in the TD. It's going to be a quiet day here after yesterday. I have some paperwork to sort out that I have been putting off, the big clutter cupboard in the kitchen to dejunk, some baking to do - we're down to our last hob nob:eek: , some of Nigella's Loukmades to make as we're teaching the Beavers about Hannukah tonight and they always like tasters :D - did I say a quiet day? However I shall find some time to settle down with the knitting and a Waltons DVD - Olivia and 2 of the kids were lost on the mountain yesterday when I got interrupted - I assume they get found or else that's the end of Series 4:D

The cheese and potato pie was lovely last night - I added celery to the onion when I softened it. I also only used half the proper amount of pastry and rolled it very thinly - only one slice left which dh has taken for lunch with a tomato salad. Think I'll casserole some lamb shanks today to have with pasta after Beavers.

Hester - bad luck about your DH - I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hugs to anyone else who needs one

    Have a good day
