OS Tuesday 27th November 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 27th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning fellow early risers - thought I had better get us started as the Forums are down 7.30 - 8.30 this morning.
Suffering from my own lethargy over last couple of days, didn't stop me falling asleep watching the Queen at work.:o

Drs. at 8.25am today:eek:, more to let them know what I had done in Spain to put on my records, and see if the tablets prescribed are available here as I have pre-paid prescription.

Kitchen coming on, hopefully should be finished by the end of the day, and the Front Entrance Porch by the end of Wednesday, then they are going to take off for about a week to allow us to put back everything into those two areas and empty the side bedroom, removing the units ourselves, to save. Although some of this is an insurance claim, we are having more done which we have to cover, so if we do some of the unskilled bits, it helps cut the cost. Will post piccys later.

Didn't get to Lidl (or anywhere else) so will have to make porridge this morning, but not a big problem.

Going to go off shopping after the quacks, so will get organised then! (Me organised give over)

Thanks for the nice comments about DS, I won't pass it on as he won't get his head through the door on top of graduating this weekend.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Can't claim any of the credit as he is DH's double apart from the eyes which are mine (and of course the brains):j :j . Thanks for sharing yours too Roz, I know you lost sleep over yours too.

Amie - Ellie - Annies :hello: :hello: and everyone else too.
:grouphug: :grouphug: :hello: All those under the weather, and MIA:grouphug::grouphug:
Meanmarie - you haven't sent me the family stuff yet!

Take care

Morning DONNY-GAL - hope your day goes smoothly and that you are able to get your medication here in the UK.

Well, we're having porridge this morning - I find it's the only thing that keeps us going till lunchtime; it's so filling and so cheap.

My plan today is to spot clean my dining room carpet after DH traipsed in with mud and mess all over his work boots yesterday - was the air blue? Why don't they think? We have a porch and a hallway in which he can take them off but, oh no, why do that when you can annoy the wife? Oh well, Stardrops to the rescue!

I will then have quick flick through the rest of the house, nip into Sainsbury's - all their toys are half-price until tomorrow; besides Christmas just round the corner, my two grandchildren have their birthdays in January, 3 days apart, so I'll see what I can get in there. Then I shall go to the gym - I ran out of time yesterday. DGS is coming for dinner after school; we'll have spaghetti bolognaise and I'm going to make rabbit jellies for him - I rediscovered my jelly moulds the other day. I'm hoping I'll also have time to do some wrapping up. Oh, and now that DH is working as a sub-contractor, I have to read up on the HMRC paperwork to find out how to submit and record all the information - what fun!

Anyway, off to have a shower so will drop in later. Hope everyone is well and (((Hugs))) to all in need.

Morning, DG, mioliere, Ageandjo and Amie......those who cross and follow.

Bit damp here today, I'm meant to be golfing again today, just hope it stays fine. I realised at the weekend that from next Monday, I'm working each week Mon-Fri including x-mas eve. So, I'm making the most of my last week of freedom. Should be doing so many more constructive things, but...I'm only here the once.

Hugs to those who are ill or in need.

Belated Happy Birthday to Twink, I forgot to say yesterday.
We found out last night that hubby's next contract has just fallen through (planning permission denied) so I think today will be his last day of work for a while. I just hope he's not off for 8 months like last time & at least we have money coming in from the lodger, though she's going to struggle to pay as she won't get paid for the school holidays, 'get uncling, girl & earn some rent', lol.
I've not listed anything on Ebay for a while so I may have a scrummage & see what I can find & will also put some more books on Amazon.
I need to do a stoor cupboard stock up as well I do one every 3 months, if I do one now it will tide us over till February.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Sorry to hear about OH's next job, the construction industry is a nightmare, My OH can tell me what's planned for next week, yet it changes day to day.....maybe the lodger can find some 'uncling' for him to do...or would it be 'auntying' :rotfl:

  • Morning

Weather not happy with just being cold, today we have cold, dark and foggy  Roll on Summer

Same old same old today, Ebay packing to do and then off to Lidl. Cheating for tea as I have a ready made chicken and leek pie from Aldi - anyone tried them, they are lovely.

Hugs to everyone who needs one x

  • Morning all:hello:

Baking day chez thrift. Blackberry and apple muffins and flapjacks for the school tuckshop. I nearly bought half price blueberries at Tesco yesterday, then I came to my senses and remembered that my freezer was full of free blackberries. I'll bet they have just as many antioxidents and whatnot in them as blueberries and they've only travelled from my garden to my freezer in a plastic tub, that sure beats travelling from Chile in a plane ;)

Must also bake some bread -we seem to be getting through a loaf a day. I do buy other breads if there's a good offer. Yesterday, for instance I stocked up on bogof bagels and wraps -good for lunchboxes.

Dd's swimming lesson at 5.30 so ham slices from the freezer, coleslaw, sweetcorn and baked spuds when we get back.

    morning all,

hope all is well. Dark and misserable here, cant see what the weather is going to do yet, but I have loads of washing, OH came home COVERED from head to foot in brick dust, he had to strip off in the kitchen, clothes straight in WM and him straight in bath.
Stilton and brie scones were fab, will be doing those again.

Off to give blood this morning at 10, then got a friend comming for coffee, and scones.

Got HM chicken and brocolli pie for tea, made it last week and froze, so just veg and pots to do. Then think I will have an easy afternoon, as they tell you to take it easy after giving blood, and thats all the excuse I need :D

Got a balloon being delivered today for DD's birthday tomorrow, s*d's law it will come in the hour I am giving blood, might leave a note on the door.

Hester it is very quiet in the building game at the moment, my OH is a chippie, and his firm are struggling for work at the moment, hope your OH gets something soon xx

    Mrs_mix take it easy xx

    ageandjo a new sofa :j :j good luck x

    Will pop back later xx
