Pro EV'ers look to be 'winning' the battle at BMW, so it might survive after all.
All Hope Is Not Lost For BMW — New CEO & New CTO
In the automotive echo chamber, BMW is seen as the leader in electrification of autos. Among those that look at the future disruptive transition to tailpipe-free vehicles, BMW was climbing to the top of the “will likely not survive” list. Both rankings are based on the vision of BMW’s former top managers, CEO Harald Krueger and CTO Klaus Fröhlich. We have yet to hear from the new team about their vision on the future of BMW. With a CEO who likes new technology and a CTO who was head of the Volt drive development, it will likely be a lot more e-mobility focused than the ideas of the previous management.Mart. Tesla produces its 1,000,000th electric car
And I've discovered a new game. It's a version of chicken - I've been driving the ICE now for 4 weeks since the low fuel warning light came on, really think we can get ICE miles down from 8k to 1k (or less) this year, even with the 'cheap' (gulp!) s/h 24kWh Leaf. Come on stock market, bounce back up, Marty wants a Tesla!!!!!!!!!!
So, how long will a tank fill last? If her trip to Brumm the weekend after next for NDCS gets cancelled, then it could see us through to June?????
I think we are entering the stage of weather watching with the ICE going to work with her on one or two sunny days a week, as we could have granny charged yesterday for ~5hrs. Not far off a 20-80% charge.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

One million EV's from Tesla is great news. Not only for Tesla but also for those of us who support a clean future in the race to help offset AGW. On that point I wonder if the current covid19 epidemic isn't aiding the cause with a far greater impact than any of the worlds political leaders!Well done on reducing the ICE mileage Mart, that's some reduction.Similarly our caravan pulling ICE has been off the road since last October. It's due in for a service and MOT tomorrow in readiness for taxing on 1st April to be used for an event three days later. This has now been postponed so the need to tax it has evapourated. Wonder how long I can put off taxing it this year!East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Nissan Leaf plus Zappi charger and 2 x ASHP's. We hadn't used our caravan for several years so sold that last year.
We hadn't bought any DERV since May last year and sold the Volvo yesterday with an almost full fuel tank.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq52 -
S'funny that Eric, for some reason I'd often wondered if you owned a Volvo.East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Nissan Leaf plus Zappi charger and 2 x ASHP's. More Hyundai Konas will be available in the future. The plan for the European site is to produce over 35,000 Kona Electric within 12-months (about 30,000 in 2020), which is over 2,900 a month, on average"Together with the increased production from Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in Korea, in 2020 the company will more than triple the availability of Kona Electric for its customers in Europe compared to last year."https://insideevs.com/news/404434/hyundai-starts-delivery-kona-electric-czechia/
Which is both good news and disapointing that 150 a day production is enough to tripple the supply of a very popular EV.8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.2 -
VWG are working on a replacement for the e-Up with a target price of €20,000 or less. Expected in 2023 though. The ID.1 will be the smallest ID in an electric line-up built around seven main models. The next one up, the ID.2, will be VW’s rival to the Renault Zoe and Peugeot e-208. A high-performance R version of the ID.3 hatch is in the pipeline. And the next ID production model is the ID.4, based on the ID Crozz concept, expected towards the end of 2020.

I know I've mentioned French Feb figures before, but this article is more detailed, and I just can't get over the fact that a major car market has reached the 8% figure which is typically when the disruptive 'S' curve takes off. To be fair that's for PEV's, but the majority are BEV's with 6.8% of the market so far in 2020.

And on social media it seems Elon Musk / Tesla supporters are being specifically targeted. Perhaps 'stage 4' is closer than I thought?

Interesting argument. Article suggests that VW might be about to kill off the Golf if the ID.3 is a better and cheaper option?

Looks like our 2 ICE vehicles have been converted into zero emission.
Yup, I'm working from home and the last 2 grocery shops were online. Zero emissions in the last week. Less of a need to spend a fortune on an EV it seems.
