Tesla Superchargers are already open to other cars

I couldn't see how to actually use a Tesla Supercharger with a non-Tesla car in that ZapMap link or in the 'further info' link on it (which seemed only to refer to non-rapid 'destination chargers')  so tried Googling.
    This link :-
    https://cleantechnica.com/2020/09/13/non-tesla-electric-cars-can-now-charge-for-free-on-some-european-tesla-superchargers
was slightly helpful but refers only to chargers within the EU  (Please don't start another Brexit thread here !) .  It also seems to suggest that for a non-Tesla to use a supercharger,  the other manufacturer would need to have made some form of arrangement with Tesla as Superchargers don't seem to accept RFID cards or payment cards.
Yep, identification for charging will have to be solved by any company that partners up to use the superchargers. The charger and Tesla carry out some sort of electric handshake, the driver does nothing. When you pick up the charger 'nozzle' you simply press a button on it, and that opens the charge port on the car, plug in, and charging commences, with the kW, kWh and cost displayed on the car's screen.
Assuming no retrofit for cards etc (as you mention), then the BEV will need to have something to say hello to the charger, and also an account for the charges to be applied to.
I saw the interview with Elon, and it was quite cryptic. Hopefully we will find out soon who the other company(ies) are, perhaps another BEV only start up?

Pondered whether to post this on the green energy thread, but I suspect cheaper batt packs are more important to BEV's, as stationary storage can already utilise the 'cheaper' end of the market where density and weight are less important.

So, we have probably all heard of the rough target of $100/kWh for battery packs for BEV's to be roughly the same price as ICEV's. News here is that it's been achieved, albeit for a bus in China, but that still means it's happening, and soon there will be no reason to buy an ICEV, as even the purchase cost won't be better - BEV's having already won on the TCO side.

Battery Pack Prices Cited Below $100/kWh for the First Time in 2020, While Market Average Sits at $137/kWh

Hong Kong and London, December 16, 2020 – Lithium-ion battery pack prices, which were above $1,100 per kilowatt-hour in 2010, have fallen 89% in real terms to $137/kWh in 2020. By 2023, average prices will be close to $100/kWh, according to the latest forecast from research company BloombergNEF (BNEF).

For the first time, battery pack prices of less than $100/kWh have been reported. These were for batteries in e-buses in China. While these were the lowest reported price, the volume-weighted average price for e-buses in China was slightly higher, $105/kWh.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) pack prices are $126/kWh on a volume-weighted average basis. At the cell level, average BEV prices were just $100/kWh. This indicates that on average, the battery pack portion of the total price accounts for 21%.

Tesla overtakes Facebook to become the 5th-most-valuable company in the S&P 500

Thursday's 7% surge in Tesla also helped cement Elon Musk as the richest person in the world, edging out Amazon's Jeff Bezos.

Much as I love Tesla and am enjoying the ride, this is getting a bit silly.

Lighter cars possible thanks to tech from Israeli firm

Although carbonfibre body technology is relatively expensive, Plasan estimates that the cost to save each kilogramme of weight in an electric car is justifiable at $10 (about £7.70) per kg.

“This makes it more cost effective than other methods of improving efficiency or range of electric cars,” said Kahn. “There’s a virtuous spiral by cutting weight”.

Despite the pandemic affecting vehicle production around most of the world China appears to still have seen an increase in sales. It's great that new energy vehicles rose by 29% to nearly 5 million. Not so good is that gasoline truck sales increased by almost as much!
But hey, 4 million new Bev's is to be celebrated surely!

China’s new motor vehicle registrations rise in 2020

China's new motor vehicle registrations rose in 2020 following a recovery in the country's economy from the Covid-19 pandemic and government stimulus measures to boost vehicle sales, according to the Chinese ministry of public security.
Registrations of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 4.92mn units in 2020, up by 29.18pc from a year earlier, with pure electric vehicles accounting for 81.32pc of the total at 4mn.
Registrations of gasoline-fuelled motor vehicles were 24.24mn in 2020, down by 5.95pc from a year earlier, while registrations of gasoline trucks increased by 28.43pc on the year to 4.16mn, reflecting a recovery in logistics services. New registrations of motorcycles rose sharply by 43.07pc from 2019 to 8.26mn.
