Sorry to keep harping on, but yet more European news that seems to show BEV sales rising fast and hitting disruption territory - 6.4% of sales in Germany for August. Plus of course, with the EU rules on emissions, we are seeing the BEV 'gateway drug' ..... PHEV sales ..... rising fast too at 6.8%.

Germany In August — Electric Vehicles Crushing It At Record 13.2% Market Share

Germany, Europe’s largest auto market, saw a record 13.2% plugin electric vehicle market share in August 2020, up over 5× from the 2.6% result of August 2019. This comes immediately after July itself broke new ground at 11.4% market share. The overall auto market in August was down 20% from an unusually high August 2019.

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Still playing that harp, and here are the UK stats for August, which also had a big jump (YoY) with BEV's entering disruption territory at 6.4%. Slippery slopes and snowballs now spring to mind.
Will be interesting to see what happens in September with ID3 deliveries from VW, and ships from Tesla arriving.

UK In August – 9.75% Electric Vehicle Market Share, More Than 2x Year-On-Year

The UK saw 9.75% plugin electric vehicle market share in August 2020, up from 4.4% in August 2019. Year to date plugin share now stands at 8.2%. The overall auto market was down 5.8% compared to a year ago, at just over 87,000 units.

The 9.75% August result was weighted strongly in favour of full battery electric vehicles (BEVs) over plug in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), with market shares of 6.4% and 3.3% respectively. This was quite a significant change in weighing from the cumulative year-to-date shares of 4.9% BEV versus 3.3% PHEV.

I think we did see 1k Tesla in August, no idea what is scheduled going forward.

Do we know how many ID3s have been stock piled or what the capacity of the VW EV factory is.  I can see them wanting to get the ID4 (and group variants) out in numbers before the Model Y arrives next year.
    I think....

    100,000 ramping up to 330,000 in 2021.

The ID4 is due in Summer 2021, which will be before the Berlin factory is expected to be fully online. Which means it might be available in the UK before the Model Y is.
    8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.

Sort of sneaking in as potentially BEV transport, we have a prize for a renewably powered 100+ seater aircraft to cross the Atlantic, as a way to encourage development.
My immediate thought of 'that's dead easy and could be done today' was just as quickly thwarted on reading the article, by the exclusion of bio/synthetic fuels.
    So, the race is on.

1st 100+ Seat Aircraft To Cross Atlantic Powered By 100% Renewable Energy Will Win Freedom Flight Prize

Carbon Footprint Ltd. has launched a competition to encourage sustainable passenger flight. It has created the Freedom Flight Prize, a competition focused on crossing the Atlantic Ocean 100% powered by renewable energy — with seating for 100. The first to do so will win the prize, which is expected to be worth millions of British pounds by the time there’s a winner.

Legacy vehicle makers are years behind Tesla's battery and automation technologies, and, Tesla is rapidly improving its build quality.

Legacy makers have two choices:- 1. Spend many billions on trying to develop their own technologies. 2. Lease Tesla's technology.

I have to suspect they'll do neither and lose out to Tesla and other startups that don't have to make money from ICE vehicle manufacture + servicing profits to fund their BEV development. I have little evidence for this but I believe Tesla will have cracked Level 5 autonomy be the end of next year. THAT will mean Transport as a Service won't be far behind and I will be able to sell my car and have a large man cave where the garage is at present.

They need to.  The latest problem being reported is missing nuts on suspension systems.  Either they weren't fitted, or they aren't held on properly.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
