The Netherlands results for August are still firmly into disruption territory with 16% BEV's (10% for the year so far). So love em or hate them - it makes not a jot of difference - the disruption is happening and ICEV's are on the way out. Great.

16% of New Vehicle Sales = Fully Electric Vehicles in Netherlands

The Dutch automotive market is back in red, -22% year over year (YoY), but the plugin vehicle category continues in the fast lane (up 75% last month), thanks to 5,680 units registered in August. That led to last month’s plugin share being 21% (16% fully electric vehicles/BEVs), pulling the 2020 plugin vehicle (PEV) share to 14% (10% BEV). That is well above last year’s result (6%).

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Nearly half of the UK public say they will never buy an electric car because of a lack of charging points, according to a new survey.

The cost of EVs is the other major reason why 46 per cent of people say they would not buy one in the future, the survey by Ford Motors has found.

Edmund King, the president of AA said that while the transition to EVs was moving in the right direction, more must be done to help drivers.

“The automotive world is going through a radical transition with more change likely in the next decade than in the last hundred years. We need to help drivers overcome perceived myths about EVs and charging.

He added: “It is incredibly encouraging that almost half of drivers will consider an EV for their next car.”

Some bevtery news (see what I did there!), we have some more expansion of battery production for Tesla in Nevada:

Panasonic To Add 14th Battery Production Line At Tesla Gigafactory 1

Walton declined to add specifics but did suggest the new line will be used to manufacture higher capacity batteries at lower costs. The new line is expected to add about 10% to the production capacity of the Gigafactory, which is currently making about 35 GWh of batteries annually. “The expansion will increase our staffing by about 100 positions,” Walton said. “We’re excited to continue our investment in the Northern Nevada community and our people here.” At present, more than 7,000 people work at Gigafactory 1.

Not what I'd call independent research.

Is any research truly independent? Someone other than the researcher is usually funding it.

Here’s details of another one carried out by SMMT who are pressing for more Government investment to help the roll out of EVs.

A nationwide survey by the UK's automotive trade body found that 44 per cent of motorists don't think they'll be ready to run a battery vehicle in 2035, many of them saying they can't see themselves ever owning one.

Ford recently said they wouldn't invest in their own battery plant because it's need 150,000 vehicles a year to make economic sense. Which is a pretty damning summary of their lack of ambition.
Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s Head of Product Development and Purchasing, stated that the company would need to manufacture between 100,000 and 150,000 electric vehicles a year to justify a battery production facility, Automotive News reported.

Quite a few EV articles appearing in the Telegraph at the moment.

Dedicated electric vehicle parking spaces could be painted green under plans being considered by the Government to encourage uptake ahead of the phase out of petrol and diesel cars.

Giving EV drivers their own on-street parking space and installing charge points at supermarkets and tourist sites such as Stonehenge are also among suggestions in a report from the so-called ‘nudge unit’ that will be considered by Grant Shapps.

The Department for Transport yesterday said it could recommend councils implement green parking spaces, which would have EV charging points and could be free or better placed than parking spots for internal combustion engine vehicles.

Ford and GM are in serious trouble. Between them they are forecasting to produce only 320,000 BEVs in N. America in 2026. At the time I posted this news I said they are wrong - they will produce a hell of a lot more ...... or go bust.
Sandy Munro has since said that whilst he has sold his tear down reports on Tesla models to European and Asian car manufacturers, he hasn't had any inquires from Ford, GM or FCA.
Are we sure the 'sleeping giants' are only sleeping, has anyone checked for a pulse?
