Commute costs: how much does it cost you to get to work every month?

£100-200It’s about 3 percent of my monthly salary.0

£0-100It's about 75 quid using the GoNorthEast app for my bus travel. I'd shop around and see if there are any half decent bus routes near you. I use Nexus Planner to plot out journeys, but if Nexus don't run the public transport in your area you could find out who does from the council.0

My cost was zero for the last 12 years of my working life as I chose to live within walking distance of work.
I reckon the savings enabled me to retire at least a year earlier than I otherwise would have as well as freeing up an hour or two a day.0 -
£100-200For me its approx £113/mth but as a Civil Servant I get an interest free loan through work which I pay back monthly out of my pay.0

£100-200I work locally and part-time. Can do it for £3 a day with Oyster PAYG fares but tend to get a weekly 2-3 travelcard which now cost £27.00 as I go out when not working.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0

Head office is walking distance, branch is 5 miles away.
Driving, it's hard to cost. It's about £1.80 in fuel for the round trip driving (I usually get 250 miles on a 40-45 quid tank). But like a previous poster said there's other costs. I doubt it makes much difference to maintenance costs, but insurance would drop a chunk if I didn't use the car for work.
If I didn't work at all, I'd have to SORN or sell the car, and then I'd save the full £90 or so a month I pay on insurance and tax.0 -
£0-100I estimate it costs me just under £100 / month to get to work and back.
Only about £30 in diesel but I have to go through the Tyne Tunnel 40 times per month at £1.62 per trip which adds up to £64.80.
When the mornings get lighter I have a nice 20km cycle commute instead, so those costs reduce significantly in the warmer months.
• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0
